I'm onto it :) No more dust around here...

Thanks Morris.

Not for my mini, but finished rebuilding the carb that Morris was so kind as to donate for Kooky's Clubman.

Sweet as a nut with new spindle and bush inserts.

I took a few photos of along the way, but forgot to get a few of the all important bush boring part.

If anyone wants to donate their carb and a rebuild kit, I'll do one up. In return you get your carb rebuilt. EDIT: Carb donors found, thanks ;)

Today I drove to Charters Towers from Townsville and found the missing rear hydro subframe. So I loaded it on with doors, W/Screens, Carby's, manifold, extractors etc etc etc. You will all know what I mean, everything that was stripped from a full vehicle. The only thing left in the Towers is the body shell and the assembled front subframe and wheels. Next trip back will be with the assembled rear subrame.

Stripped a tyre off a rim and cut it in half for a uni project. That is about as close as I've come to doing anything on my mini for a while.

Re-installed 4 ball joints with NOS swivel pins (Thanks John!), 1 new outer CV, two new front brake lines and a customer made ECU mount. I've got an alignment scheduled for this arvo, and then I'm back on the road again! Unfortunately during the Mini's 2 weeks on jack stands it somehow developed a pretty strong leak from the timing cover area. Oh well - at least I'm not on PT anymore!

Not directly to do with the mine, but when the blaster operates, the back door bellows like a chimney with the dust of oxide and dirt eschewing into the back yard.

I took a leaf from Morris's book and built a dust collector into a 20 litre bucket. I figure I won't fill the bucket very often, so fitted it through the lid and ran a bead of silicone around the edge to seal it in.

I hope it works.

Interesting idea. It lowers the centre of gravity very nicely.
I hope it doesn't vacuum stuff off the bottom of the bucket.
So what made you think of it? Did you stuff up the 75mm hole?

I changed the light in my cabinet, I removed the 12v flouro that emmited a dull glow and fitted a Supercrap 60 led 12v trouble lamp, I just cut off the cigarette lighter plug and hooked it to the existing transformer and switch. It is way brighter, I can now look through the window and see inside. I couldn't do that before!

Maybe we should spin off a new thread for blasting cabinets?

ha ha, such a cynic. NO!

Like you I thought it could be a little lower. I have the suction pipe taking from the top. I bought some vac hose and it seems to be working a treat.

Picked up a new engine for the Mini K project... After finding a crack in the 202 head and needing to find another, I was given the opportunity to buy a 1275 1100s block built on a ported aeg163 head, re13 cam etc.... So the K will now be a little upgraded haha :)

I decided to remove the steering column lowering bracket.
Undid the steering r ack bolts. Removed the lowering bracket and remounted the steering column.
Now my horn doesn't work.
Took the cowl off and noticed the the two tiny copper rivets that hold the earth brush had disappeared. I replaced them with some tiny screws.
This was a new blinker switch that had done 3 left turns and three right turns on the 3 klm round trip to rego inspection.
Am I expecting too much :-/
