G'day guys,

I'm in two minds about what wheels to go with...

I had always planned on going the same colour wheels (dark gunmetal colour) as the roof of my mini, and today I finally got rubber put on the wheels I got powder coated to match.

However, now they are on I'm not so sure. If I was keeping the car I'd just go with my preference, as thats all that would matter. However, i'm going to sell the mini to start a new project, so am seeking opinions on which would appeal to more people.

Here is a pic (click on it for larger view), unfortunatly the pic doesnt do the dark ones much justice as they look better in person as they have metalic in them, but i'm thinking this is what prospective buyers will be seeing in a add online. (also I have the chrome trim to put along the bottom, so may contrast with them better too)

Opinions?

Dark looks great !

Maybe try black out some other silver parts..bumper, headlight surrounds to add to the effect.

That's a similar colour scheme I want to paint my Clubby & I think black wheels would look awesome on your car.

Cheers Brad

Thanks for the feedback so far, keep it coming

Whilst I have a thread going, I'll ask a question of you knowledgeable people about the chrome trim. The trim is rolled up atm and I needs to be straightened out, what's the best method for straitening out this trim? oven? hair dryer? or do I need heat gun? (ive seen em pretty cheap at supercheap)

Cheers
Mark

Dark dose look good but I'd assume joe public will think they're not right, dirty and just plane unsafe (because new boring cars don't have black wheels). I guess it depends on who the target market is when you sell it, if it's just a generic run of the mill mini I'd go silver but if it's a modified, weekend warrior mini i'd say keep them dark.
Or do what surtees said and add a silver lip.

To straighten the trim, unroll it and leave it in the sun with a couple of bricks on it.

Look for soemthing useful to lay it out. If laying it on the ground is too hard because of kids or dogs, I clip them along a fence with the big black spring clamps from Supercheap or Bunnings.

Be prepared to leave it for a number of weeks. It will take more than a few days to want to stay straight.

Silver definitely.
Black loses way too much definition in the wheel - and as Chong said - looks like you're missing a hubcap!

I reckon the rims would look the sh!t hot if you polished the lip of the rim , with the colour coded centres , .

Polish the outer part of the rim.
