New main fuel jet and straight needle make a big difference.

Discovered after running it at Shepparton hillclimb that we might need to rebuild it again, I dont think the rings bedded in properly as its ok under 6k but once we go past 6 {{{ redline / gear change is 8.5k } it vomits lovely penrite all over its self.

Don't use Penrite.

Has it still got the breather in the fuel pump hole?

Lets see how this one goes!!

Most recent `aftermarket' slave cylinders have a problem...
The spreader in behind the seal is the wrong shape. So, the seals don't last.
Hint: pinch a plastic spreader out of a genuine slave cylinder and fit it, with a new seal. I credit John Smidt for this suggestion.

I have purchased a new clutch slave for my car and will swap the plastic spreader out of my old one as a precaution.

Refitted the Bosch planetary geared (modified ex- Dunnydore V6) starter to my 1360. It was removed a while back as the solenoid had an H2O problem.
Now, it doesn't stall this starter when cold cranking. [it runs @ 20deg static advance with Nissan Pulsar electronic dizzy + bathtubbed head, and previously took teeth off a few Lucas starters]. With the Lucas one on there I had to use the ign kill switch off to spin it up to speed first.

I've been removing the blistered paint along the 997 Cooper's front seams. It had something dicey poured over it years ago which lifted the paint, but nothing more.

Sprayed the driver's side seam today. Looks good once again.

Today I removed dents and filled with bogg. Sanded flush and finished in an etch primer.

Fashioned a speedo cover from one of those stainless steel cooking bowls (before and after picture inserted),
And Got tired of not being able to read my speedo at night so used strip LED lighting, although might make the lighting a lot more yellow in colour (not a fan of blue neons all over the car)

Edit: incidentally the blue dash indicator light is part of the immobiliser and not the high beam.

covered the windscreen seal with sika, on the hunt for some old school seals as the rubber will most likely be better than new ones?

New seals should be fine, mine was 2 years ago when I fitted it dry.
O'Briens put butyl mastic sealer on it (as they do normally) when they fitted a new screen last year, but it had never leaked without it.

New rear brake shoes and cylinders, new handbrake levers, and freed up both cables and quadrants:now can do handbrake turns! Also replaced centre exhaust mount with a competition one from Minispares. Now no more breakages and scrapes on speed bumps.

Busy day...
All new brake wheel cylinders, new shoes, new springs, new adjustment screw all round.
Fixed the handbrake as well.
Plus a service. New oil, filter, drained and had a look around the radiator to ensure no leaks. All good.
New channels for the sliding windows are going in tomorrow. At the moment they are just rust unfortunately.
Big shout out to Glenn out at Mini King for some helpful advice and great price on the front wheel cylinders.
So much for a restful long weekend.
