Went on a nice cruise with the southern districts mini club.

Nice people would recommend to anyone looking for a club to join.

Yesterday I stripped the paint off the rocker cover.
Today I painted it black & put it back in, & hard-wired a 'Sound Racer' behind the dash. Shelby v8.
Now I just need a cheap stereo head unit & small loudspeaker for the engine bay. :)

After helping John with his Mini K on the weekend, I decided I should keep the pump out and adjust my car up properly.

I haven't filled the suspension up to full pressure since it was first done in 2009, so I hooked the system up, bled her down and pumped her back up to the full rated pressure.

Now it sits as it should for the first time, with three finger well and clear under the front arches.

With all that however, I've just earned myself another wheel alignment...

I'm going to re-register her again in the local plates shortly. Better get these bits and pieces sorted out..

We couldn't get a drum CV off Gafmo's pot joint shaft so he could fit new disc CVs. Wire clip was jammed inside it.
So I lit the oxy, and cut the CV in half to get at the clip.
I love the smell of burning Castrol LMM grease in the afternoon...

Doc...did you go slightly over-pressure? (330 say) then drive it around a day or two to settle, then let down to 3 fingers or whatever (don't you show those fingers to me  )

I think you meant Mick instead of Doc.

No, I put it up to the height I was after directly, plus a quarter of an inch. I'll let it settle from there. As it is it sits on 300 Psi.
I have had it at 290 or 280 since 2009, so there wasn't far to go pressure wise, but the rear helper springs only start to really make a difference to the front height after 290 PSI.

There might be 40 pumps of my unit from empty to full, but 7 of these are between 280 and 300 as it jacks the engine off the ground.

PASSED CERTIFICATION!* On the third go, the engineer signed it off this evening. It failed the first time on numerous small things, and some rust. The second time it failed on a couple of things and rust (I didn't know which bit he was looking at and he made it seem worse than it really was). Tonight after a thorough going-over, he filled in the forms and ticked all the boxes so my Clubman Estate is a week away from being on the road (They have to make a certification plate that they have to fix into the engine bay).

So chuffed - it's only been three years...

* Kiwi-speak for an engineer signing off modifications. In my case, adjustable suspension, 1275 engine and new Rover Metro leather seats.

I haven't touched the cars since a big push over Christmas. Yesterday I made a big parts order that I have been putting off while expecting to be made redundant. Can't keep life and car projects on hold forever so stuff it, I'll risk it. Parts order is many small items of clips, trim and door hardware. Engine parts will be the next big spend.

Mick did a great job on my Mini K, She is now the tallest mini in my shed! a full inch higher.
Thanks again Mick, you're a great bloke, sorry it took me a while to post a thankyou, I ended up in Hospital for a few days
But back on track now and keen to put some miles on the little green K. John

Drove to South Yarra in the mini today and had some people ask if my wheels were minilights and whether the motor was a 1310, it's amazing how much attention you get. Got home and decided to adjust suspension because it's been bottoming out too much on the local roads, discovered that turning the adjustment dials on my GAZ shockers makes a big difference, 3 out of 4 were at the softest setting and I just paid to have it all set up. I also tweaked height because my 12" deep dish wheels keep scrubbing when turning hard. Now all seems good although I think my wheel alignment may need tweaking again.

Started my Wet - Dry conversion this weekend. Yesterday i removed the motor, and today i managed to get the rear sub frame out.
Next weekend i'm hopefully going to pick up some new sub frames to build up, get the front sub frame out and start ordering new shiny bits 'n' pieces!

Pulled the front subframe apart for Jim to come pick up now to do the rear.

Did you do yourself a mischief working on the mini JimL, the paramedics in the back ground is worrying....
