Replaced my boot seal. The new one is much thicker then the old one and the boot lid sticks out a bit. I'm hoping it will sink in with time.

is it a seal on the body of the car?
if so, I had persuade the lip in a few places in order to get the boot to close properly...

It will. Takes a little while. You won't need to lean on it. Its a good thing it still latches.

Some of these seals are bloody hard- I bought 3 from different places before I found a soft enough one.
Minisport SA's was softest, I think Kc and Mini King have similar now.

Here's what to look for- http://minisport.com.au/prod505.htm

[edit] stuff using those bloody clips, I used Selleys Kwik Grip contact adhesive instead. Hey it's a bitsa so who cares....

Repaired al the headlight system. Turned out to be faulty hi low dimmer switch and faulty headlight switch. Fitted relays to headlights and tidied up all the engine and under dash wiring.

Thanks for the info. I just checked and I have the original soft one, but I clipped the lip onto the lip of the boot opening. Maybe that's the problem?

Rovers etc had the seal on the body but it's a different design seal.

Last coat of varnish yesterday, glove box lid, speakers and head unit cage attached and stereo wiring installed and checked. Now to figure out how to attach my new dash! :)

Replaced the LH steering rack boot today. Easy job.

Then switched over the front shocks to gas.

Car now rides pretty sweet. Just need to get around to switching over the back ones as well.
