Just wondering if there are any websites out there that do fancy bits for small bore engines
Cranks, light weight rods, etc etc

Everywhere I have looked only do parts for 1275's

I'm interested in this too, particularly things like straight cut drops, I think I saw here recently someone had to use 1275 ones and have them bushed to fit.

sam_1100 got a set of Minisport UK SC 1275 drops, then bought a thicker front bush on the web from someone on the Isle of Man.
MED still does sell smallbore ones I think, but cost more $$$ than Minisport.

I don't have a list per say, but if they have a list I would happily look through a list if a website had it.

It's a potential build that would be a while off.

Just looking for things like conrods, maybe a fancy crank.

Mini1990's experience with S rods got me thinking:
Why pay to straighten and balance S rods when you can buy new, straight, and balanced ones for $600.

If the same holds true for small bore rods, maybe cranks etc I may aswell buy them up to build a motor.

The rods that Mini1990 had, were they std cooper s rods? (or even repro ones?)

You could get your current crank lightened, straightened and balanced cheaper than you could buy a fancy aftermarket crank. Saddly they're a bit on the dear side.

I don't know of anywhere that does aftermarket smallbore stuff (mostly because I've never looked) or else I'd post you a link.

Mini1990 was looking at getting his S rods worked on, but GR suggested he just get some new ones for the same price. Not sure much further than that.

At least, thats what I remember hearing through the grapevine(forum)

I'm not really going to build a screamer of a motor, but if the parts are out there, and I can collect them slowly over time, it's more likely to happen

I have small bore parts, special small bore extractors, small bore over size valves made to the MK S length so you can fit better valve springs, a range of pistons, i have just designed some new cams for the small bore motors have to do some more testing with these.
One thing to rember when fitting 1275 rods to a small bore you have to fit the rod to the piston through the bottom of the block, and some times you can not get the pin into the piston with out grinding some of the block away first fitting teflon buttons is a lot eazier than trying to fit circlips in.

Stronger, but they are much heavier.
The rods Graham has are aftermarket light race rods for a 1275. Can be fitted to a smallbore with some mods, but GR is right re fitting the piston on.
The rods' big ends won't fit down the small bores...

They are NOT, in a road engine. Modified Cooper S rods were used in Mini Miglia racers in the UK with `Miglia' pistons (these had S size gudgeon pins) due to the very high RPM they had to do to be competitive.

Swiftune do some really nice parts for small bores. They are not the cheapest place around, but I've used lots of there stuff and can't fault any of it. Can't say the same for some of the other OS suppliers!

I'm using there drop gears for a 998.

Std ones will be fine thought, just do the normal things of polishing, shot peening, balancing, lighten if your really keen and I doubt you will be able to kill them 

My 998 build is getting very close to running again, should be a good test of how strong small bores can be. Or be a catastrophic fail
