Tiny update again..

Made up the gear linkage.. Works fine gets all gears easily! Exhaust will have to do a bit of a shimmy around it but that's easy enough!

Fitted my remote oil filter attachment an as you can see, there's heaps of room :? But ittle be ok..
Image
Have also ordered some custom cams and a set of Honda pistons to go in it..

Slowly getting closer!

Cheers

Sean

you should rethink the selector mate, im not sure why you have two boomerang type rods instead of keeping them to one side of the tunnel and straight even.., when i made mine they were both to one side and the exhaust fitted nicely on the other side to an extent.. you could even box up the floor a tiny bit to get them over a little more..

They won't go straight unless you put the selector in the middle of the passenger floor, but yeah I could probably get it over a little bit. Will see how it works out as this was only a mock up, will be a bit more permanent in the real car.

Thanks for the input!

What sort of engine mounts are you using?
Mounted securely the stabilizer rod isn't needed

Isn't it? Thattd be handy. I'm running landrover v8 mounts and then two stabilisers at the top so it shouldn't move too much.

I know of at least two Swift minis (one of mine included) that don't have the stabiliser and the shift is fine.

Some Swift owners go as far as to remove the shifter bush, but I wouldn't do it on a road car:

Is that remote oil filter attachment a sandwich adapter with a blanking plate over the top? Or is it a different style adapter? - one like I've not seen before.

Oooh I like that idea!

And It's a sandwich one, only reason I bought it is to free up space at the front as the subframe is close

To free up space in the tunnel I removed the stabaliser and routed the gear shift through the opening where the 850 pudding stirrer went. Mine had a blanking plate there so easy to remove but you could cut a hole in the floor at that point. Then just use the pudding stirrer boot and the shifter rod sits on top of the tunnel inside the cab. Make some brackets to hold the shifter base and it works well.

Now you can get a big fat 3" pipe in the tunnel no worries. :D

Hi guys,

Small update. I took the motor and frame out so I could make some adjustments and finish off the frame except for brake like brackets etc. looks cool on its own

Image

Also got my cams

Image

And the first order (they're so expensive I had to buy them in two lots) of spek gauges. For those that don't know they're common in NASCAR and are fully adjustable to different senders etc as well as being programable to change colour for low and high alarms etc.. Very cool units

Image

But this thing is my current focus hence the lack of work being done..
Image

Meeni actually will be more complex then the ute is..

Cheers

Sean

That unit looks cool. Looks like a conversion kit you'd just bolt in

How's the V8 Ute racing treating you?
