 Post subject: Hydrolastic sub frame

I have a subframe with the numbers 21A588 stenciled in white paint ,above the number is a blue circle with a star in it.These numbers are on the front of the subframe and could not be seen until it was taken out ... ?

As far as I know they don't mean anything, most if not all frames will similar markings on them. I'm pretty sure they are just factory assembly codes.

I think you will find the star in the circle is the acceptance mark (i.e. passed quality control). Just a check to make sure all the nuts were done up! On modern cars they paint mark the nuts/parts as they go through the assembly process, you will often see three paint colour marks on diffs etc....

I find this on the locknuts inside Oz Mini steering racks, too.
