The comments about the injection engines requiring less maintenance than say a non injected mini are (I think as an owner of one): not entirely true.

They should still have regular oil and filter changes, belt tension checked, cooling system checked and all the other usual who-ha, the only two differences are that the distributor doesn't need playing with and there's no carb to tune.

Ask Josh from Mini Imports (Ringwood), he regularly gets in front cuts from the UK, so should be able to give you a price and a couple of options based on your requirements.

Actually, 90% of front cuts in this country are sourced from Japan, something we might not be seeing for a little while given the countries situation, and Josh doesn't have any on order at the moment so its only what's in stock thats available.

That's a real shame as most of the stuff out of Japan is really low km's and pretty rust free. :? Stupid DOTARS... Still someone else's loss will be someone else's gain.

if you get lucky there are other cars that used the same engines (in various states of tune.)

The engine I have ready for my mini came out of an Austin Something? (I cant remember what exactly) and is rated at 72hp from memory.

That'll be an Austin Metro.
The one you want of any is the MG Metro: it had 75hp (same as a cooper s) but from only a single carb.
:D

You only took the engine out because you had trouble getting it over the pits, didn't you?
