Hey Tricky!

Just read this thread from page 1.... Is there paint on it yet? You've waited long enough, and you sure deserve it!

Now, somehow I've got to work twice as hard to recover 8 hours of lost work for reading your post......

Cheers

General Lee

I bet that somewhere on the internet there is a spray painters forum where a whole bunch of blokes are laughing about how long they can screw around without actually doing any work.

Yes Simon it does, and you werent the only one getting all excited.

The painter is a relatively young guy (about our age Simon) and has had a heart attack in this time and has a pacemaker. He is basically on a pension and supplements his income by spraying in his spare time.

He uses a booth that he hires from the spray mob down te road from his house, but the guy that owns the booth wont loan it to him anymore as he takes too long (due to his health) and ties up the booth to much. So, he has given me an alternative of spraying it without the booth but the outcome wont be as good.

He has also given me a number of another spray painter who can do it he reckons for the same price and quality. I will ring him in due course to see what gives. Just feeling like its all too hard atm. Thinking more and more like I should just spray it myself and be done with it.

Cheers,
Tricky

if you make sure the place its in is a dust free as possible, just get it done outside a booth.. you can rub and cut all the little bits of crap out.. which you get in a booth anyway.. or as you said, do it youself, its not that hard..

Can you rub/sand out bits of dust even when it's a metallic colour (before or after clear coat)? Not that we know what colour he is using.

Simon,

You have convinced me...

I am going to spray The Cat myself.

I contacted the PPG paint rep the other day and he can get me the paint fairly cheaply. As soon as the Transalps are finished, its into the Mini, as the wife wants to trrade the Patrol and the X-Trail in on a new 4WD, so that will leave me without a car unless I get the Mini on the road.

Cheers,
Tricky

Did the painter go by a user name of Slimer? And have his own rotaries and gemini's etc?
