Anytime, im really happy with the subframe.

Its not til you actually see a frame in the flesh and see how modified it is before you realise how much its worth it.

Ive been a bit slack lately, trying to fix my daily mini up. But i have bought some shiny bits for it.
I got an adjustable bias pedal box, and a trd lsd. Plus am eyeing off some rims.

Mmm, nice rims. Are they centrelock types?

No wheel nut holes...

I didnt do too much today, meant to get the engine in but only got some of the guards cut. I had to put my roundy into storage and take off the bits i need. Heres a few pics of my progress.

I cut along the dotted lines, but will need take more material out to fit the subframe.
And those wheels are off a project for uni. Ill get a few more pictures of it during the week.

hey, looking good so far.

have you asked your engineer about those pedal boxes? do you know if they are fine to use? I need something similar so i can mount the master cylinders inside the car.

what master cylinders are you going to use with it?

Cheers, Cameron

Ive got to go and see the engineer once ive got the engine in the car, so im going to take it along then. My thought process being with appropriate shielding/extending the bulkhead i can make it safe and still got fully adjustable brakes. Can anyone else see any faults in my argument? Ill need to get it authorised as im going to use rear discs as well.

Im not sure where theyre from, but the slide straight it and bolt onto the bias shaft. the adjustability is great though, can get front and rear bias balanced and can adjust the cylinder bores by putting a new one in.

And if it all goes bad ill just build a racing mini and stick it in that.

I did a bit more progress today, got the manual gearbox bolted to my block. But found out i need to get longer bolts to mount the geabox. Other than that i found one of my engine mounts is well and truly shagged. But its an excuse to swap to harder ones . Does anyone know a supplier for them?
And a few pics of what i got to today.

The front gearbox mount

The back gearbox mount, not sure on the fit of this, think the plates should be closer together.

and the other part of the front gearbox mount on the frame
Cheers,
Joe

I found that OEM mounts are in the order of $120ea+ but my suggestion would be to remove all the rubber in the mounts and get polyurethane cast in them (a lot cheaper than buying new mounts). 65 Shore A hardness polyurethane is about the right hardness and then just drill multiple holes around centre pin to provide some additional movement in the mount.

My mate at work has done it to his old Magna http://martybugs.net/magna/mount.cgi but the same applies to any car.

If you want the mount harder, either don't drill any holes in the poly, or go up to 70 Shore A hardness.

Its finally in, and still supported by the hoist atm, need to get new bolts for the front and itll all line up.
Tricky, thanks again all ive had to do is ovalise a few holes to line up to my car (no 2 minis are ever exactly the same) and its slotted in perfectly so far.

I would reccomend getting the frame in the car then dropping the engine in the top, its an easier option.

I drove the car it came out of. Went quite well for an auto in a heavy car. Got a few more engines lined up so one of those will be forged internals and a bigger turbo on it.
