finally got mine. looks great, needs a little polish though for mirror finish.. i'm starting to like the bling. oh oh.

got the free vacuum hose, bright blue not my thing, straight onto ebay and flog it to a ricer i reckon.

can anyone tell me if the small cap on it is the right pressure for a mini?

my car is currently running an overflow with the pressure cap on the overflow bottle, should i try and get a blank cap for the new rad and keep the same overflow system?

cheers.

The cap is an 11 pound rated recirculatory type.
Stock I believe is 13 lb, but I don't think 11 should be a problem.

The cap is recirculatory, which means that the overflow tank is not pressurised. You could place the flat cap on the top of the overflow tank and the engine's cooling system would simply draw the water back as the engine heats and cools.

I think it may be 1.1 Bar rather than 11 PSI. 1.1 Bar makes it around 16 PSI.

Thanks willy, the world has clearly moved ahead into metric and left me behind...

Well thats 3 PSI over which may or may not be a problem depending on the age of your hoses and the condition of your heater core...

Mine turned up while I was in Brisbane, with the piece of small diameter useless blue silicone hose.

The hose that came with my radiators is the correct size to go from the radiator to a header/overflow tank. Shame its blue and won't match the rest of the engine bay.

Mine arrived last week. Didn't look as polished at the images Mick posted, will need to polish it better this weekend.

The kids in the factory must be working overtime to keep up with the ausmini demand.

and as for the radiator falling apart or caroading due to a reaction to other metals....ive been told it wont happen in my life time ...as long as i keep the radiator clean...like i do....as mine get flushed at every service.
sometimes were just lucky to get a good deal....to be honest i dont care if it falls apart in a year or two....$130 is nothing compared to what i spend on my mini....my gear knob cost more than that...im happy..and i diddnt even get the free air hose iether....still happy

Apart from the lack of shroud on this setup, you'll find that mounting the radiator to the body will cause other problems. If you do add a shroud you'll find that it will engine will movie back and forth under load and thus the fan will hit the shroud. Also if the wrong type of hoses are used, they will fail earlier than expected. I would definitely mount a temperature sender and gauge (as i see you have blanked the hole off) :)

Okay, so we are a few months on now.

Is everyone happy with their alloy radiator? I think I'm about to buy one for the Moke.

EDIT: Mick - unless you regret your impulse buy and want to sell me yours!

Cheers,
