Hi all,

I am completely new to this forum and am the proud owner of an LS1275. Details are as follows:

1) Name : Rob Birtles
2) Year 8/78
3) Vin Number XNFADI8Y/103365
4) Engine Number 86310P
5) History Owned her since 1992 and mothballed" her in 1996 as my girlfriend did not want us to have the expense of running two cars. She previously owned by housewife who used her just to go to the local shops and school and before that she was owned by some youths who played around with her as a rally car. She has a couple of slight indents on either side of the sunroof plus matching ones in the floor so I think she must have landed on something hard. She will need to have the framed straightened out at some stage in the future. She drove very well though and I never had any problems.

She was orginally gold in colour but I went mad (rashness of youth) and had her resprayed in British Racing Green. Sort of regret this now!

Use to carry a 30ft hang-glider on her when I was into the sport and you can see a front bracket for a T-bar in the photo.

29,000 kms on the clock. Very minimal rust. I ran her down at bit towards the end of rego but I am aiming at getting it back on the road in full glory and will need a fair amount of advice from the forum re parts, good mechanics and things specially needing to pay attention to.

I want to spend a bit of money on the engine, new rims and clean up the inside and a new paint job. I am thinking that I would to go back to the original paint colour but my wife seriously would like to have it done out in bright red...

If anybody knows a decent mini mechanic in Canberra it would be very much appreciated. Images are as follows.

Hi all just thought i would add to the register. I would post a picture But i am a dumb bastard and havent got a clue how to.
1) Name: Ron Wilson
2) Year: 9-78
3) Vin number: XNFAD18Y/104467
4) Engine number: 12h902uh000350
5) History: I bought the car of my little brother for $250-00 in 1995 and proceeded to strip back to bare metal and repaint myself. I done a crap job and then this year i decided to restore it properly. I have had it resprayed the original Hi Ho Silver and also spent a fortune on the cooling system.
Cheers Ron

Thought i should stop being lazy and add myself on here, Pictures can be found on my thread in members gallery
1) Name: Craig Hopfe
2) Year: Really late i think 10 ill check 2morrow
3) Vin number: Ill check tomorrow
4) Engine number: ill check tomorrow
5) History: First owner was a youngish girl, that grieg knew as he was the mechanic that did all the work with this car when she had it, then sold to a guy who owned it for 10old years, then bought by Les a member of this forumn i think, then owned by me. It has had a respray in its original colour (hiho silver), interior is completely stock, still have the original hub caps in good condition, engine is still 1275, so all in all its pretty much the exact specifications as it left the factory with the added bonus that its the 10th last leyland mini to ever be made, and numbers are there to prove it...currently undergoing a refresh with engine and enginebay respray.
Cheers Craig

Should put ours up after 3 years in the making, she hit the road in july. Now on her 2nd (still an LS) engine.
2. VIN XNFAD18Y104220
3. ENG 12H902UH000935
4. Didn't get any history, purchased the car 3 years ago, engine was of an unknown quantity, 2nd engine was in a 77 leyland mini and was runnign fine, so did a transplant. Put on some pepperpot alloys, twin tanks were already fitted when we got it and now just have to work out the air con unit (that is located in the boot) and have been told this was a dealer option in tassie. who knows?

Hi all,

Sorry to be coy and shy and all that, I do have one that I bought about 12 months ago, it is already listed here, so no need for all the details.

I do most definitely recall when the 1275 LS was anounced that Leyland advertsing was...... the last 400 run-out Model, the 1275 LS.....so from their advertising they claimed that only 400 would be produced. Going by the numbers that are left (when you compare to all the earlier models), this figure could be about right. I may still have one of these adverts, but could take some time to lay my hands on it. If (when??) I find it, I'll post it here.

Like all of the others, this one needs restoration (unless yours has already been restored!) and having a GOOD look at how it was put together, it was obvious that the poor buggers at the factory knew that they were getting the arse in the next few weeks, it is just shocking!!

These are really the Australian assembled 1275GT of the UK, just with our back window and doors etc. Nice Car in concept, just really badly assembled.
