Purchased.

They can't be this cheap forever. I'd be tempted to buy another 1 or 2 for future projects.

Mick, you know you will never fit that to the S! I think you need to loan it to me to use in the Moke, for long-term testing. :D

It would suit the moke you know...

I plan to use this as leverage to build another modified mini. First I'll buid the radiator cowling, and then add an engine to the end of the cowling, then a subframe and a body
to support the engine
which supports the cowling
to support the blingy radiator.

I don't know why, she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

I was going to start with a drum brake hub, but a blingy radiator will do.

I'll sell you the rest, Mick!

Pic your shell. Three to choose from. Roundie, Clubman (have to settle with a flipfront) or Moke.

Choose your engine. 850, 998, 1100 or 1275.

Choose your gearbox. Magic wand, remote (3 or 4 sync) or rod.

Choose your brakes. Single leading drum, twin leading drum, 7.5" disc, 8.4" disc.

Looks like you guys have taken all his stock.

There's still 3 auctions going but there's messages on two of them saying that he's out of stock and to check back again soon.

I reckon this looks just like the one i got from Mini King in November, same sticker on the cap, had to use metric bolts for the cowling and so on. I may have paid a little more than $130 :) (Although the overflow sticks out the rear on mine)

No problems so far, temp never gets above middle of the gauge, but then it never did on my 20 year old unipart one either until it leaked.

PS. I fear that I may have not been careful about my coolant situation, what should i be looking out for - does using the wrong mix cause rust? I think when i fitted it I was still sick of chasing leaks around the system and pulling it apart that I just put water in with no coolant, only put some in a couple of months later once i knew it was OK.

As a result, I don't really know what my mix is and it was running for a while with pretty much no coolant at all , just water :(

A short time with no coolant (just to prove no leaks) is what I normally do anyway. If you are not sure what coolant you used, just make sure you drain & flush all the old stuff out before you refill with the new stuff.

You should really do that anyway. Also the coolant containers always have sticker that you can peel off and put next to/on the radiator cap, just to remind you or whoever else has to work on it. :)

If I could be bothered I would get one and do a bit of testing to see if they cool any better than a normal Aussie radiator.
Just because it is shiny does not mean it is more efficient.

Exactly what I was thinking, hence the suggestion I should "borrow" Mick's.

Seriously, the Moke has never cooled brilliantly, even with a cleaned up 1100S radiator fitted. So it would be a good test for the bling jobbie.

Absolutely, but its 100 bucks cheaper than a recore, and only 47 bucks more than a rod out...

Mine's for rainy day stocks...

Agreed. From the looks of the core, it will cool better than a std aussie mini radiator.

I also bought it as a "offer too good to last" rainy day item.

Remember that like any ally radiator, if you use it and then remove it and put it in the shed for some time, they are best stored full of coolant. Prevents the formation of an oxide layer in the core, which will impede cooling efficiency.

So i clicked buy it now. one on the way to me.

As everyone is saying, at that price, why would i rod out my steel one?

So the question is, do i have to rubber mount, or earth out this thing???

My courier driver at work killed an ally radiator in his ute and the radiator place claimed it was because he had "too strong concentration of coolant". Go figure, think you're doing the right thing and topping up with coolant.

i'm ok sticking with same brand of coolant forever. what's everyone's faves?
