Today I bent up about 7meters' of tubing for the cage on the Travelle"R". The cage will have about 24 meters of tubing weighing about 64kg by the time I'm done.

what a terrible job to do to get that fiddly little hose between the fuel pump and the pipe back to the tank on and clamped up.

ran out of hose clamps, had to remove the fuel filter and pinch them from that. someone on here said its ok to run an SU without a filter? if not, big trouble!

surprised it was still drivable.. the old hose was just overlapping the fuel pump connector, gravity fed I think!

Last night:
  • Fitted a new Smiths clock where the old 2" tacho used to be. Looks schweeet and now I can tell the time 8)
  • Pulled out the oil pressure relief valve and replaced it with a 15mm (9/16") steel ball, 40x8mm rod in the spring, etc. Oil pressure is now doing odd things -- At idle, consistently reads 65psi hot then as revs rise it flutters heaps then drops to 50psi and stays there above about 1500rpm. Might have to play with the spring pressure a little methinks.
  • Fitted an 88* thermostat, since I'm doing mostly 10km-at-a-time trips at the moment and my oil quality is suffering through not getting hot enough. Took two goes at getting the housing to seal, ended up running a bead of HT silicone with the gaskets and leaving it overnight to cure.
This morning:
  • Started the car, observed coolant still dripping out of the thermostat housing  Cleaned all the surfaces again, replaced the gaskets again, ran another film of silicone and reassembled. Waited an hour, then fired her up -- perfect seal this time
  • Noticed the water pump making unhappy noises, looks like a job for another day...

awdmoke and I have the same thing happening, higher pressure at idle than at revs - I was gonna try a bigger ball. Let me know what works ;)
