Not being a smart arse Doc but Graham Russell told me alot of work had to go into this manifold to make it work, then the results are clear.

"Goes harder than my well-ported Redline one, no filter on yet. " does it go harder because of the lack of filter?

I was looking to buy one of these $300 manifolds from Graham after seeing the Nb of Greg Malure at Warwick last year. Without development they won't work is what he told me. Maybe your lucky and have the conbination right but I had to settle for a Redline $165 job. It's been ported and now polished on the outside not for the wank factor but to reduce heat intake.

Rupert, I got to see this manifold first hand on Doc's car last night, It definately has more grunt up high, Doc would be the one to comment on the development and specifics but as has been mentioned before there is a lip where it bolts onto the head which is good for 5hp and 5lb of tq...

Just by looking down the thing you can see it's alot straighter and bigger than the redline. I don't think the lack of filter would make too much of a difference, there is just no filter cause it isn't able to fit.

Rupert,
I had the Redline on it before, with 9 hrs porting work inside, it was pretty good. This one is way better, all the way up.
No it's not the lack of filter- I ran the Redline without one too for a trial, a while back.
I didn't port or match this manifold, as GR told me not to- I just bolted it on.
The head has 35.6mm/31mm valves, ports are pretty big for a roady motor. C/R is 10.4:1.
We'll see how good it is at Wakefield on Wednesday- with the old manifold, & 3.4 diff I used to hit 96mph on the straight before I chickened out for the kink & turn 1.

Oh great, I was talked out of the Russell manifold!!!!!
That really shits me as I've spent way more than $10,000 on the engine & box and I'd really hate to have all of these $$$$ resricted by a measly couple of hundred dollars.

Rupert, the maifold Doc is running is not the same one that Greg Malure runs on his Nb Mini, Greg runs a longer one, hence Doc's last question. Given the state of tune of Gregs engine, I doubt his manifold is the same as any you buy. Serious work gone into the engine and set up.
I was at Warwick and saw it run, took poll position off XUI's!! Steve

After you get the paint off, take it to a carbie place and get them to sit it in the carbie clean tub overnight. 8)

I just gave my Dellorto the Nulon `throttle body & carb cleaner' treatment- it's good stuff.
Cut the firewall hole bigger too- now I can fit a Ramflo and a box in, after the binnacle is moved into the car a bit. 8)
For this week I've put some heavy duty soundproofing over/into the hole, tied it back onto the speedo cable. Helps shut it up some....!
