Thanks for the comments guys.

Its a big step having the engine running. It turns it into a actual car instead on an expensive model!

I have a couple more pics of little bits and pieces I have done this last week:

The new battery I mentioned before (can anyone say "ORANGE"):
Image

I can now get the seat all the way back and keep the batt in the standard spot with this one.
Image

New home for the windscreen washer bottle: Please excuse the messy wiring - I have been troubleshooting a few gremlins.
Image

It should almost disappear with a black carpet cover, and still give me a very useful glove box.
Image

I've also been tidying the engine bay wiring and hiding it in conduit now I know it works.
Image

I've also measured one drive shaft - I know, I know... my excuse that I haven't done both is that it is too cold to be laying under the car! (in Kal :? ) Really, I'm just a bit soft! :P

i use the same pump and the stocko z200 vn-vs commo filter.. just looks scary seeing it there

That filter in the pic is the pre - filter to stop crap from the bottom of the tank going through the pump. There is a proper metal cased efi filter after the pump that you can't see in the photo. (I think its from a tt300zx so flow shouldn't be an issue!)
Below is a pic that shows the fuel line after the pump where you can see the black efi filter. I was just removing that pre-filter today (thats why there is no hose going to the pump) because I don't think I need it. I was just using it because the tank has not been used for some time and I didn't want to trash the pump straight up.

In that pic you are looking towards the front of the car, the other pic was looking towards the fuel tank at the back of the car. :)

Thanks for you comments though. :D All thoughts / opinions are appreciated.

Smart thinking.

Once you've been running an EFI system for a while the tank gets flushed anyway, as at least 2/3 of the fuel on average gets filtered & returned to the tank.

Very nice work, top marks 8)

I would still use a pre pump filter/strainer I had a pump fill with crap and die.
I use a volvo inline one on mine it has 1/2" hose lines in and out so no restriction.
Just my 2 cents

After talking to a few other people, I agree its probably best to keep the additional filter there. I just have to find one that will fit without moving the pump too much. (not that its hard to move the pump anyway)

A bit of an update from the weekend:

BOV mounted and intake pipe painted::

And a bit of interior bling that I couldn't resist - even though its what I should be spending my $$ on at the moment. :? (gear knob and handbrake handle)

haha I should really be buying new seats and fixing the centre console.

I have to run it plumbed back for rego reasons. It is still going to be loud though, as my intake pipe is very short, so it will vent very close to the air filter. hehe.

I haven't plumbed it back yet because I need to get a hose reducer as I don't want to run a large diameter hose across the engine bay.(the bov outlet is pretty big!) :?

I have the same situation with mine, but this BOV is deffinately one of the quietest ones out there, i have mine plumbed back but was curious as to how it sounded vented to atmo, still fairly quiet as opposed to the turbosmart type 2 i had lol, that got annoying real quick.

This is what my intake consists of, very short but yea its fairly quiet from the BOV, fairly nice spooling sound though hehe. (plumb back wasnt connected in this pic)

Yeah, I'm not interested in a loud BOV, it just attracts the wrong sort of attention IMHO. I would have just used the standard on except that I didn't get one with my motor.
With it venting to air its pretty quiet, but I haven't really given it the berries on account of still not having a TPS yet. :(

Also there is no exhaust at the moment, so the relative sound of the BOV is pretty quiet!!

Do you have any issues with running such a short intake? I've heard that some of the starlet guys were having boost fluctuations or something. This is the reason I kept my intake such a small diameter.

well i have a TD04L so it doesnt have some of the problems that the ct9 tends to get, the boost holds steady and builds boost pretty well.....the standard intake pipe tends to be quite a restriction, not to mention getting quite hot over the exhaust manifold.

Just make sure that your actuator on the ct9 is in good condition or best to get a HKS actuator, the standard ct9 actuators arent that strong and boost drops off in high rpms, that might be where you heard about boost flucuating.

Only thing i can think of with the boost fluctuating with regards to intake is that the intake pipe may be colapsing under pressure? if the diameter of the intake is narrow and soft. otherwise no problems with short intakes, i kno of many starlets with short intakes like mine and they havent had dramas.....just look out for big puddles lol.
