Hi all,,, ok ok ok, i know it`s been a long time,,, & yeah yeah, pigs will actually fly one day too :-)

But still, here`s some progress report on the bimmer twin cam kits,

we have all the cam pulley bosses done,,, i just have to broach the key ways into all the mini cam pulleys,,,

all the all the lower timing plate covers are now done--->

31 of them sitting there all pretty lookin :-)

& now we`re onto the top cyl head end plates,,, this has been one of the main problems , as i`ve changed the original design of them to make it easier & quicker & better & cheaper & & & & & ,,, but, it`s taken some time to sort a way around a few difficult issues, but still,,, they`re comming along nicely now we have some time on the CNC machoine for a play in that dept.

We now Only have the bottom pulley spacers/waher pieces to make up & then a sh!t-load of cyl head plate lower flange pieces to finish off & we`re done.

I`ve allready bought all the Cam pulleys, all the belt tensioner pulleys, timing belts, grub screws & set screws & bolts & seals, etc etc

soooo,,,, just thought i`d let you all know that i am getting there & for all those who are waiting for me to get off my slack arse that it`s not going to be too much longer now

OH!!! & because i allready have 16 fairly solid orders for them, & my good friends Archie & Stew want one each & of course i want another 2 for myself, i`ve decided to make 30 kits all up in the first batch, so there will be a few spare if anyone else is keen

Edit,,,---> & yes they are roller rockers in the back ground & there will also be a pile of alloy flywheels comming soon too

sgc,,, you can do small or big bore engines with these conversions, the small bore engine does require more effort/time/money than a big bore tho (As Cush said),,, but then a big bore motor will cost a bit more to buy than a small bare to start with too hey?
give-take,,, yin-yang,,, 6 of one & half a dozen of the other :-) Big bore = more grunt tho so why bother with a small bore anyway ??? :-)

Andbat,,, sorry but i still can`t cost it all up yet, i`m not finished stuffing around with all the fiddly bits to be able to add it all up just yet ,,,& the worrying part is that It`s going to scare the crap out of me with what it`s all cost me when i eventually do add it all up :-(
I spent over $3500 on just the pulleys so far & that`s not counting the machining of all those pulleys to fit the bosses,,, nor is it counting the bosses for all those pulleys. Now start adding into that all the alloy plate (both 12mm & 10mm) slabs that all had to be cut & then CNC machined,,,, then add into all that the big lengths of alloy machine grade rod i bought , then cut them all into short lengths for the pulley bosses & part off a 6mm slice off each of those for all the sandwich plates for the pulleys, then CNC machine all those, drill & thread 3 holes into each one of them & also drill for the locating dowels, then make all those dowels & press fit all those dowels & & & &,,,,,---> will i go on ???

& yes Smarty,,, all that alloy does look pretty smick hey? :-) wish i shares in an alloy company, i really do :-)

Mokestar,,, i`d be keen on your 1275 donk myself, can you PM me? & i`m not really trying to beat anyone to the market tho, if i was i would have had them ready 4 years ago when i did the first one, & yeah maybe i should have, but all sorts of other sh!t gets in the way ,,, there is only one of me after all... & besides, i like surfing & racing my Down hill bike while i`m still young (enough) & physically able.

& why hasn`t anyone asked about the alloy roller rockers in the background yet???

Were those rockers made out of all the off cuts left over from the timing plates? and you thought they would look better as rockers, than bits of expensive scrap?
Hmm they are nice though.......

& Maxi,,, yes the Bimmer twin cam conversion kits are suitable for A+ engines

Yum, alloy rockers...
but won't the higher rate of expansion of alloy mean that they have large gaps and therefore really loud when cold?

Just thinking out loud :)
