Not the strongest jap box by far (the replacement synchros available now are far superior to the originals)
BUT
even after years of "spirited driving" the box in my 1989 Mk 2 Gti is far superior to any mini I've ever owned (and this car has over 300,000kms - not sure on gearbox though)

Like swiftmini said the suzi engine makes about 100bhp (I assume @ the crank) and the mini box can (if built correctly) handel that much power, I see no reason why this is going to kill the box. Also when madmatt said his BMW twin cam head conversion should make around 100bhp their were no coments about the box failing :?
I'm not expert on mini engins/boxs and what they can handel but the swift-mini conversion looks like a lot cheaper and eaiser way of getting more power in a mini IMO.

EDIT: Dose anyone have the figures on the power outputs a mini box can handel? and the powere of the swift engine at the crank(seeing as that's where the mini parts will start)?

P.S I am aware I'm posting in "defence" of 2 different posts in this index. I'm not trying to pick a fight I'm just stating how I feel on the subjects.

a g13b makes 74kw or about 100hp at the engine

i agree the mini box will take the power, there are plenty of us that have more than 100hp at the engine in our a-series..

as far as the g13b box,
there were problems early on, but they were fixed..

our mk3 gti is kicking on 230,000kms and the box is great.

i'd keep the g13b box because its so much nicer than a mini box, and it doesnt share the oil either.
