i agree, but a 4efte would end up costing more and taking far longer than what you think also.
the goal of the smallblock should always be to try to beat the bigblock, just as the bigblock is there to go forth and do battle with the remakes.
I'm currently looking into many, many different options. I've come out with a price tag of 7-8 grand for 4EFTE to an already existing car in good conditon. But motors are looking scarce, so spare parts may not be availabe (haven't looked into spares yet). I've contacted a bloke in the USA about Hondas, would cost me an estimated 12 grand for a Honda conversion, with 220hp at the fly

(too much, so I haven't looked into this all that much, but conversion includes coil over front suspension, and a tilt up front, cool!)
But above all can't beat a supercharged A series for band for buck. And I reckon, with a 1275 head, Carl's motor will basically be a small 1275 boosted. That's to say, it would perform, power per cc, of a hot 1275 boosted, but with 1100 ccs instead. Ie, will go hard, not as hard as a 1275 of the same spec, but still real hard! And you can say it's an 1100.
