No the 1316 takes a little more work than the 940. One benefit though is there is more metal thickness round the exhaust ports so you can get better port shapes in a race motor, so they say.

I have no preference for either really, it's just that I found a few 1316s at the right price a while back. 8)

True to a degree spaceboy, but with all the money this 'small block' has seen, i could've put a 4efte in
Why do i have to do things the hard way :!:

i agree, but a 4efte would end up costing more and taking far longer than what you think also.

the goal of the smallblock should always be to try to beat the bigblock, just as the bigblock is there to go forth and do battle with the remakes.

Yeah OK, I agree an 1100 is sweet and can be made to GO hard.
Trouble was, mine (out to 1220) got 8 cracks in the NEW 1098 crank after 20,000 miles. Maybe it went TOO hard.... 8500 rpm didn't help I guess.

Better talk to GR, he showed me that it won't work. Holds the top of head down, but there's nowt inside it there. Still weak in the deck.
Get a 1275 one.

I'm currently looking into many, many different options. I've come out with a price tag of 7-8 grand for 4EFTE to an already existing car in good conditon. But motors are looking scarce, so spare parts may not be availabe (haven't looked into spares yet). I've contacted a bloke in the USA about Hondas, would cost me an estimated 12 grand for a Honda conversion, with 220hp at the fly  (too much, so I haven't looked into this all that much, but conversion includes coil over front suspension, and a tilt up front, cool!)

But above all can't beat a supercharged A series for band for buck. And I reckon, with a 1275 head, Carl's motor will basically be a small 1275 boosted. That's to say, it would perform, power per cc, of a hot 1275 boosted, but with 1100 ccs instead. Ie, will go hard, not as hard as a 1275 of the same spec, but still real hard! And you can say it's an 1100.

Wow...I see your logic. Build a pumping 1100 to take on a 1275, and build a grunty 1275 to take on 4EFTE, build a mega 4EFTE to take on Honda minis, build a stonking Honda mini to tear the front of your car? Hehehe...

I really want this 1100 motor to make really impressive results. As from viewing the latest Sydney dyno results, apart from the amazing turbo 1100, none of the smallbores made much of an impression, on me at least. My engine slapped together with old dizzy, random twin carbs tuned to best with whatever needles in them made right on 50hp atws, but different dyno, different numbers of course. - Not having at anyone.
