Just wondering id there any need to lubricate the clutch throwout bearing? Looks as though it has had graphite grease or something in it. Had to clean it up and just don't want it failing because it is dry.

BTW it is one of the "flat faced" ones (RHP i thinK??).

Cheers Ray.

Shouldn't need to touch it with anything although the cheaper ones are pretty scant on grease. Don't soak it in solvents or oil or anything else that might cause the grease to dilute or leak out.

It should turn smoothly with no discernable feelings of grit, binding, or any noise.

If it spins too easily, maybe consider changing it out. ie. if you can spin it with your hand and it keeps going for what seems to be a little too long, bit hard to explain but it will generally sound like it's without grease while you're doing it anyway.

Any doubts, just change it, it's easier to do it now than 6 months down the track.

Sorry, I should have clarified.

The bearing has not been faulty it's actually only 3 months old just in the process of cleaning everything up after a baulk ring cracked i washed it off insome fuel. Not much but it seemed a little dry after. I have a spare bearing but itsone of the smaller cheaper ones and I think it will be unlikely to handle the grey diaphram that is on the car..

I managed to get a littlegraphite grease backin there and it all feels fine now.

Thanks anyways.

Ray.
