Mines 2.5inches straight through with only a CAT, no muffler. From the turbo to the firewall is steel pipe and from there to the tip is Stainless, it spunds great.

No flexi joint. Its one solid piece from the extractors to the tip, its all welded together, n held up by 2 seperate rubber mounts at front/rear of rear subframe, and solid bracket to the diff housing.

yeah a flexi seems to be the only thing you are missing...
but if you dont drive it much then i wouldnt bother?

I've not had a car with a flexi joint, but I've heard they have a tendency to burn out (larger surface area exposed to the heat, sort of makes sense), and several well-respected Mini specialists don't like them much. I suggested putting one on my exhaust to a specialist, and he told me he wouldn't do it. We later found out it's the least of my exhaustive concerns... I believe later model Minis may have had flexi joints standard..? But I don't imagine they help performance.
The main purpose is to allow for a little more flex between the engine and the body - useful if you've got dodgy engine steadies, although fixing the engine steadies is a better (and cheaper) idea. I don't imagine you have dodgy engine steadies, though. If your engine is nicely mounted, a flexi joint shouldn't be mandatory.
Mini Mad, sounds nice, but it's nowhere near loud. Just very nice! :) You might need to share your current exhausnt note Hanra, so we know how loud it needs to be. I'd reckon my car's loud enough to suit you, but it's not a system anyone would recommend.   I didn't choose it...

Why does he need a flexi joint for Spaceboy....

His system is welded at all joints so no flanges etc

I've been using 2 inch, straight through exhaust with LCBs since I got the car going.

It seems good enough, plently loud enough. No flexi-joint, no need what so ever. I'd say you might need one with rod change but with remote, nope.

Since I supercharged my car it sounds quite different. It has a bit more of a buzzy or zingy exhaust note under boost.

I'd stick with the 2 inch system with LCBs and just be happy with that, I don't see much advantage from going down in size. A dyno might be the way, if you care that much, I wouldn't.

I think ill pass on the flexi joint. I only had an issue bottoming the pipe out on a trailer that i had never used b4.

Ive got an engine steady on either side of the motor with new bushes along with new engine mounts. So there is not a drama there.

I just thought 2in maybe to big, i chose this system when i was a 17yo kid. And was still under the belief that bigger is better. Im more thinking of changing the muffler setup tho.

Because its such an open system, it does tend to almost sound like its sucking air on the gear changes... Hard to explain, but it kinda has a funny note to it when off the gas.

Good choice - if you haven't had flex problems before, no point in worrying about them.
A 17 year old kid (well, he was around that age when he set it up) chose my exhaust, that's why I've got a 2.25" system, with 2" full race 3-1 headers... I'll change them soon enough. I'll have to listen and see if it makes a sound similar to what you've described next time I take it out... :? It's LOUD though!

I still think the best sound is from standad or racing 3-1's into a 1 3/4 pipe with RC40 attached and it give out a great sound and has the torque and HP readings to match.

I run a 1¾" S/ST LCB into a 2" MS pipe with a sports exhaust (2" tip). I think it's loud because everyone I talk to says that they hear my car before they can see it but I can't even hear the exhaust over the induction hiss from my carbies.

I will be going louder next time - probably a straight through exhaust.
