northern mini parts will sell you a 70 amp alternator that bolts on and thats a pretty tight fit.

edit

Mini magic, issue #2, Article "Satans Mini", gold coast car sound uses a 190 amp alternator in their show car mini, and they quote "the rest of the car inlcuding the engine bay and interior is finished with the same level of detail as the rest of the car. A personal steering wheel and gear knob have been installed and probably give the mini a nice sporty feel if it could do more than 30 kays.. but you get that on big jobs"

Now do they mean, it cant do over 30 kays because of the alternator? or because of the weight (the car has 24 ten inch subs, as well as 8 mids, and loads of amps..

I reckon they mean the weight of all the stereo crap ...er... I mean stereo gear. :P

Although that alternator probably costs 2-3hp at a guess.

That lunar thing looks like the Austin 7 special at my brother's farm. I gave it an extra gearbox transplant- now has 13 forward gears & 7 reverse.. :P
Sadly it's been dead for some years now... we broke the crank....

Aha... but this was one of the very last (1932-34?) , had that Great Leap Forward, a 3 bearing crank.
747cc, they were a mighty little motor.

We did consider welding the crank... we had already arc welded a conrod where it broke, some years before..
