throw 13gs at a v8? throw 5 grand plus the cost of a car at a s4 turbo 13b,

dont exspect him to last more than 50 000ks though,

but on the other hand he probally wants to keep it a series so i say as long as you are keeping the car for a long time and she is your pride and joy, do it, it will be money well spent,

i just spent 500 on a set of pp housing and plates for my rotor, my rebuild will probally cost me 3k, but most rotor heads focus on throw away engines,

And one from a Mr Vizard- "Speed equipment is only worthwhile if it actually adds SPEED". 8)

If you can put down any amount of money on anything at all..... and have no second thoughts or regrets about parting with that money.... then go for it.

Its YOUR hard earning and YOUR hand sliding those dollars across the table.

Ive wasted somewhere in the vicinity of $125,000 on cars since 1996. The only thing it did was increase my knowledge. Yes, I look back and say "its half a house", but they were my choices. I still sleep well at night.

you can sleep in a car, but you can't drive a house.

I'd personally LOVE to spend $13K on a mini engine, that would be awesome, better than that would be to spend $50K on one with the utter utter best of everything, billet crank, twin cam head, weber alpha injection, 6 speed sequential box, fark knows what else, that would be sweet (and could easily be more than $50K, but who cares)...... it'll be a while before I can afford that, but jeez, can't wait :D

hee hee,,, now they`re all good comments, that`s better, you are listening, i feel better now :-)

& yeah, if you were like me & Skssgn, then $50K spent on a big throbbing full race twin cam weapon engine would be fun & would actually be about the right money,,,, just for the parts & machining,,, then we`d need to cost into it all the build labour, so maybe a tad more than $50K would do it... & yeah my house did actually cost me $62K, so pretty well sums up right :-)

& some people are actually different to others,,, funny enought there are people out there who like std minis, some like special models like Coopers & "S"s & GTs etc & all in primo stock pristine factory std concours std condition, others like to modify them & make them unique (you only have to look at that Ute thing in the states with the gull wing doors etc , not really my kettle of fish but hey , he likes it & god knows what he spent on that) but then there are some people who just like full on light weight, Raw race speed, cornering & wicked braking power ---> performance minis.

What the cost is for these toys is often not really "THAT" much of a concern for some people, they just want what they want & that`s the aim, that`s their intention.

I`ve known many many mini people wanting what they want & not actually getting it first time round , so they rip it all apart & do it again & noften again & again till they get it right & what they originally wanted may not actually end up what they get,,, most times because what they originally wanted was not an educated/well informed item, but more of a "Thought" which then after some time & effort & great wads of money later they finally realise that`s NOT what they wanted & then modify their thoughts to suit the realisation of the practicallitys & change the whole resultant product to suit their new found knowledge.

Lets have a little play here shall we??? --->How`s about you all add up what money you have spent , over the years, on your most favourite mini ,,, add it all up from start till now & also display/type/tell us the specs as well.

This thread can be a learning curve for lots of people, realising where you were with your thoughts of what you wanted from your mini & how & IF those thoughts have changed with the time & money thrown at it ,,,& also what you would do differently if you had that time again. add up the cost & add up the time spent & then try to add up the time chasing down parts & machining too & then we`ll see what the true cost has been for all your minis yeah???

sorry, but as much as i`d like too, it`s actually impossible for me to do , cause i`ve just had way way way too many minis & way way way too much time in this game to even start adding up what i`ve spent,,, i`d have at a guess that i`ve spent well over a million dollars on minis ... probably more like 2 million --->my $62K house is pidgeon feed compared but was just one of those timely lucky things i did just so i could have a place to put all my minis :-)

So,,, who has spent what & on what to get what & what have you ended up with???

this should help our good friend yeah???

getting slightly off topic, the pics of the car contain what looks like a can of V. is this just a cover or a product. I've seen a red bull one in another mini mag and thought it looked pretty nifty,

oh and Ive probably spent about $5K in 2 years, that was mostly for the paint job $3,500 the rest was for a new exhaust, engine work to fix the sellers MISTAKES and yes the sellers from sydney will remain nameless. seat covers, radio. fix brakes etc little things add up.
