It's all proportional as you could spend 10K putting a 3 cylinder daihatsu in for no real gain in power. On an A-series 1000 - 1200 gets you 7psi supercharger. I looked on ebay.co.uk. With bulhead and crossmember mods aside going metro turbo with intercooler would cost about $2000 - doing ALL the work yourself. But when you go too crazy( ie. 10psi) for a stock compression engine, you need mroe work done...this is where it gets expensive. Unless you have your own maching shop you can't do it yourself. I reckon A-series, yes you can do it, and yes it's easier but hell, for say 15 grand it ain't worth it! To do historic racing, then yes it is

About that...

8port is capable of that at the crank...that's maxed out hand grenade styles..

but you'd be talking closer to 250HP at the crank with a starlet with bolt on upgrades. Reliable daily..

You will be forunate if you can hear the motor over the tyres screaming for mercy.

As a matter of fact.... where is the audio clip Dan?

I think anyone that attempts a conversion needs to have a reasonable budget if they aren't going to do the work themselves.
the 4efte is pretty easy power. upgrade turbo and wind the boost up a little with couple of other supporting mods and 170hp is possible. ie 13secmini.
I know for a fact to build my motor again would be a few $$$. and thats N/A.

I did everything myself and my cars owes me about $4500 after i had it engineered and that includes the car (Van) it might look shabby on the out side but its still a kick ass package for the money ive spent

after taking out the cost of the brakes and van which i would have gotten either way

Ive spent roughly $2500 on the new engine setup
