The bloody throttle cable snapped in the middle. Glad it happened now.

I will replace it with a generic, however any ideas on how to add the lumpy bit, that fits into the accelerator pedal, onto the cable?

Bicycle cables have a very similar lump on the end. You can lash out and get a teflon lined you beauty cable for 7 bucks. Cross fit the brass end fittings from the old outer cable if you have them.

Oh, Grease it before you re-install it.

Don't over adjust it. You want the pedal on the floor with the butterfly 99% open.
If you have 100% throttle and the pedal just off the floor you will break the cable very quickly.

ONe trick with push bike accelerator cables is to cut the excess off with an angle grinder cutting disc rather than a pair of cutters. This will help stop the indiviual wires being crushed and mishaped so that you can still fit it to the carb. If you have a good soldering iron get it really hot and dab a touch of solder on the end to hold the wires. Just a few tips to making life easy.

Cheers
Aaron

I tried two bike cables and they both freyed at the end of the sheath where it goes throurgh the firewall. Mind you they ware rubbish chinese things. So I have ordered a teflon coated core and a new sheath. Thanks for the feedback. Might make a good How-To
