Guys..... another newbie question here.

What are Hi Lo's?
Are they the same as Adjusta-Rides?
What suspension do they apply to (Dry, Hydro or Aftermarket Adjustable?)?

I saw an Ad in MiniWorld and i am intrigued as to how they work..........

hi-los are for dry cone suspension cars.......they replace the trumpets that the rubber cones sit on and have a couple of nuts that lock together to alter the height of the.....well ride

As above and the Knuckle sits inside the end with the nuts end....You wind the first nut out to the height and secure with the other.

They are the same as the Ajuster Rides but these will not except regular knules and you must also purchase knuckels to suit the Adjuster Rides.

Ok.... so if i want to change the hydro suspension on Slidey the only option i have is to install Fully Adjustable Suspension Kit like Spax or Koni etc...........

Option for Hydro.

Adjustable via the Hydro more pressure lifts Car, Less Pressure lowers the Car....Two fingers between the guards and the tyre about rite..


Compertition Bumber Stops front and back. I have it all round on Morris but some prefer them only on the front.

Shocky on the front..go to a reckors and get Clubby Top bracket and add shock.

Read Vizards first book and he mentioned Wet is better than Dry...I Like the Man

nah theres things you can do to hydro suspension.. (just ask the doc....he likes to brag about how good his set-up is)
- firstly just let some hydro fluid out and it will do the same thing as hi-lo's on a dry car
- then add bump stops
- then you can do things like add shock absorber kits and the like.....

even standard hydro cars seem to handle pretty well to me......at least a lot better than the average family barge

spax and koni make shocks, these arent fitted to hydro minis as standard, but front shocks can be fitted, as all the mounting points are still present in a hydro shell, the only way to adjust the ride of hydro is to let fluid out of the bags or put more in (afaik) also you can fit a competion bump stop kit, for further info on hydro pm

The correct way to lower hydrolastic is to cut down the piston under the bag. They are supposed to run at high pressure and if you let fluid out you lower the pressure and lower the ride height.
If you cut down the piston you keep the higher pressure and lower the car.

Thanks for the response fella's... i have already set the ride height via the letting out of pressure...... (have about two fingers gap).
Tried competition bump stops but the car sat on them all the time and the height was just rediculous (about 4.5 fingers gap in front) but it did ride well....... i currently have the standard bump stops in there and it is fine.... although i am rubbing slightly under heavy cornering load with two people in the car.

I am just trying to establish the best point of attack regarding the suspension setup... money isn't really an issue
