then she said "wow, you're a real man... real men don't need windscreen wipers" and she was yours for evermore?

>Rude< I would clean out the wheel boxes and tube as the first step and regrease. Take the motor apart if you are confident and check the armature/brushes and bearings. If you have a motor rewinder near by get them to look at it.

You should be able to get it them to work, they used to when the car was new. Many sparkies aren't interesting in doing work on things, just replace with new.

I changed mine after I was told I would need 2-speed by a guy that had a turbo already (zakspeed check fast 4's july/aug 91)

Cheers

It is possible to make the old square motors 2 speed. I did mine back in '67.
It involved putting a resistor in series with the field winding? I just forget the value...
Now I have obtained another one for Barney, it's gonna be variable speed this time... using the variable resistor off my old Fiat 124S.

Another source for two speed versions of the first type square wiper motor is from 60's Jaguars. Mk2, S type etc. Then you will need a 2 speed switch and no I don't know the Lucas part numbers for the motor and switch.

Hope this helps.
