Hi Matt,

FMIC progress as promised. Still a long way to go though, and lots of reconfiguring of the front spoiler. But its a start. To be mounted still are the 100mm VY Commodore fog lights, indicators and cold air intake.

Top bracket:

Bottom bracket:

Bottom bracket mounting to IC:

With front spoiler:

And again head on:

Like I said, still lots more work to do to modify the front spoiler and get it ready for painting. BTW - Zeemax quality is absolutely crap!!!

Regards,
Tricky

Hey Matt,

How's the plumbing coming along?

Just wondering if you plan on MIG welding all the header pipes? Does the steam pipe your using weld well? or would it be better just to tack (strongly) everything together and then get it TIG welded by someone else?

cheers,
Pierre

Hi Pierre, Below is a pic of my progress. It is coming along well. The technical term for the bends are buttweld elbows (aka plumbers bends). They are approximately 4mm thick which is perfect as it is quite thick which means I can wind the Mig up and do nice welds. The pipe I am using has similar wall thickness. I should have the whole thing finished off tomorrow. So I wil through up a final pic when it is finished.

Cheers

Matt

Matt,

Sorry to hijack your thread!

Idearat,
Clearance was barely minimal for the FMIC with the bodykit on.
I had to cutaway a fair amount to get it to sit right back.
Its a 3-inch IC, so fairly deep but it is as far back as it can go, tilted back at the bottom about 8 degrees.
Some alteration of the bodykit will be happening to accomodate the driving/fog lights and cold air intake for the air-box. The pipes will be routed through the old indicator/parking light apertures. There isnt much room there. All piping will be 2 1/2 inch, or 64mm and most of it will be alloy (some bends to be fabricated to allow for the tortureous route).
I hope this helps. I will host some more pics (own thread this time - sorry Matt) after I have done the fibreglassing.

Cheers,
Andy

Brad yeah not sure similar to a tD04 I believe. I think it is a suck it and see. Either way a huge improvement over the CT9. Fixed the MIG last night so I should have the manifold completed this weekend and turbo bolted up (will post pic). All 32mm ID runners and yeah should flow a heap better than the current jobbie (still that's a pretty sure bet). And yeah Andy feel free to start your own thread...

Cheers

Matt

Looking good Matt, I've got a bag of fittings that ended up not being able to use because i had no room. I would have liked to have built mine the same way as you have, perhaps the next one.

Looking foward to seeing it in October.

Dan

Well guys pretty much finished the manifold. Just got to finish off the seams but overall pretty much done. Dropped the new turbo in to see if it fit (always a good thing after the amount of effort), and as you can see a pretty neat fit. And what's more the other radiator kindly supplied by Craig from NZ fits a treat so it looks like I might have her on the road by end of Sept...

Thanks Andy, yeah I will definitely dyno it and put up the sheet. Basically I was running almost exactly 70kw based on shootout mode at Jake's Performance. So I will take it back there that way I don't have the issue of different dynos and we will see what happens. Should have the intercooler by end of this week hopefully so we will see what the go is then. On the road by end of Sept I think?

Cheers
