Just got an email from minimania floggin off their vtec kit

http://www.minimania.com/web/Item/MT10000/InvDetail.cfm

still left hand drive... but it's got installation instructions...too :)

http://www.minimania.com/web/SCatagory/ ... ticleV.cfm

looking at it... reminded me that there might be a Vtec engine that has the gearbox on the other side (whole engine rotated) i can vaguley remember it....

i think it was in a minimag somewhere...

two gu(a)ys had a right hand drive vtec roundie without extending the bonnet..

Yep, got the same e-mail.

Interesting stuff. it's something I've always wanted to do.

BTW, I'm not too sure whether the LH or RH drive is an issue. As I understand things, one of the reasons the VTEC was chosen was because it had its gearbox on the opposite side to most other FWD drive cars thereby allowing room for the brake and clutch master cylinders of a RH drive Mini.

My guess is the that he conversion would be easier for RHD and I think their subframe would suit both.

I'd say it's US $.

For Aus $2,500 there would be one already on a boat for me :)

my MT-B kit is on its way over.. after it missing the container the first time they promised me it would be here by the 2nd which is tomoro.. im iching to fit the vtec to it

i had a look at the superbrake kit when i ordered the subframe kit.. you already need to have your 8.4" uprghts and for $1400 AUS it is a little pricey.. ive opted for 8.4"venteds with 4-pot calipers.. alot cheaper and should slow the mini down from 200kph just as well

that engine is the newer i-Vtec, like in the crv, it spins the normal way (most honda engines spin backwards  )
i remember the mini with it in, he had a stupid 600GBP bent allow radiator, and the engine looked to lean foward too much for my likeing.

im not a huge fan of most of the kits as they space the fronts out so far that you need a zeemax, and beam rear(or 2in spacers), looks cool but expensive.
i like the way the guy in canada(minimike?) did his sohc vtec.

wow, thats like 4 cents worth!
