There is a chance this might work if we all put the word out,

How about a decent meet up, where we all meet and catch up, put a face to the names on here, if possiable camp over, so could be a 2 day weekend, I would like to put my name up to start the ball rolling Im a newer memeber but have seen how things can work living in Uk and see how they make a small group of friends turn into a good weekend, it doesnt have to be a expensive meet, but lets get the ball rolling

I rekon when the weather is ats its best say Feburary when we are all over Xmas and ready to roll on for new year,

We could make it a yearly event

Word is that NSW MINI CLUB is fighting for ideas, no one steps forward this doesnt have to be a club fight or crap stir all welcome Mini lovers, and fans all together, bonnet polishers, racers modder's all meet, lets get our head together, a multi state thing, get the NSW ,QLD, VIC, ACT and SA clubs together

Mutant you have ideas and many other memebers lets do something we have the force and numbers lets get together for a weekend and have a laugh

COME ON people dont sit on your hands type up some ideas lets get the fire started

TELL YOUR MATES AND CLUBS, commitee members of clubs get them here and tell them, some one is willing to get a ball rolling, no hand bags no wind ups, just pure MINI fun

Thanks
Charlie

Why not, send your ideato the various committee's around australia.
NSW is fighting for ideas, and people wanting to be involved more, problem is that no one is willing to organise it, sounds like you have the idea, and i hope that it goes ahead.

Cheers

I'm more than happy to pass on the info to the club but you would need to give me more definite details about where/when and jot it all down so that we can run off some copies.

From previous experience you go ahead and run this event and not wait around till people tell you they are intending to come. Run it anyway for those that you know will go and it doesn't really matter how many attend, more importantly you have done what you started out to do and the people that did go had fun.

So many people keep saying they want to meet up with other Mini owners, and low and behold when you do run something, they don't turn up. They always seem to have one excuse or another.

By the way minimonaro, are you back in Oz? If not, when are you due back?

Well AAron you with me or not your run the NSW web site push it get your club talking and get your heads thinking, I rekon out of Sydney in Northern parts Like Port Stephens, or more rural, will look into location,
would be great to get a mini owners who has a farm and we can all crash in his padocks, rough it pitch a tent and you there, I will see this through, need some support and clubs to push there members,

Arron if NSW is looking for ideas with all them members there is issues Im sorry mate, if you guys dont sort it out you will be left behind, VIC and QLD are leading the way and host some of the most talked about shows in AUS even get international attention

Mutant will be back for it if it gets moving Im sitting in UK and if nout happens soon whats worth coming home for have my life here its pretty good, shows every other weekend

I want to see the response, you guys see what feedback you can get from your clubs
when is there a good time to set a date is there a long weekend in Jan/Feb next year I havent got a Aussie calendar????

Here are a few things that I would be considering:

You have to make it attractive enough for people to drive from say Qld and Vic to Sydney (I assume from your post that this is where this event will take place). Are owners going to drive this far for a sleep over in a paddock?

I think you need to have accommodation for campers and for those that don't wish to rough it e.g. families and older members maybe

Will the event be run by a club, e.g. will it have public liability insurance, permit required from CAMS? Or is it just a get together

I may be getting carried away here, so forgive me but I know what people are like.

If it is just a get together then all you need to do is send the info when finalised to the relevant Mini clubs and I am sure they will publish it in the monthly mags and website. I know our club will advertise events if they are invited.

I don't know about other states, but in Vic our CH permit plate cars need for it to be advertised in our club magazine to be able to drive their cars.

I will keep watching for more info.

well had a thought what about if I approched a camping ground yes, then there will be a choce of caravans cabins and tent space, hmmmm

and no not in Sydney north of there either Central Coast or Neslon Bay ,

I wonder if a caravan park would let us invade there patch for weekend, some where like that would be good,,
And mutant in UK people drive miles to camp in paddock look at IMM's love they are all in paddocks with farmers best friends near by(cows) we drove to Austria, Italy and Scotland for all the IMM International Mini Meets, and they are all held in feilds mate, the event is what gets us there not the pitch, yes ok ammenities are priceless hence Camp ground there is one down south of UK thats dows this its called the Riverina Run, they do it every year we could do this, and get people together, thing is that other states need to think out side the box, people over here drive through many countries to get to an event!!!

Whats wrong with a tent anyway no matter the age dont people camp anymore in Aus and we have the weather for it, in UK it rains but we still camp, god both Austria and Scotland where Mud baths but wouldnt have missed them for the life hell Scotland IMM we got married there and it was our honeymoon in a tent, with mud up to our knees Gum Boots was the trend

Thanks
Charlie

Well you organise and get the relevant paperwork/info together and it's easy to get all the addresses of the clubs and it's up to the individual clubs then to do the rest of the promoting and advertising within their membership base.

Our family drive many kilometres every year to other states for shows and events so I see what you mean but people like us seem to be few and far between.

As I said, go for it.

Going on the looks at veiws to the amount that have replied, I say no one could be arsed to come, whats the problem people its not hard a few helpers and we could have a anual event that we all could meet up and have a laugh, gee if its the loactaion Im open to ideas, look VIC and QLD have there shows and we in NSW could have another thats three decent events in year plus our local clubs events

Is there no fire at home, no passion, if its the time of the year lets change it maybe to later on ealry Summer when we get a chance to plan more or have a smaller event now get our heads together and discuss ideas

I dont know how many people I speak for, but if someone said to me that there is a Mini Jamboree at ______ (insert place) from _____ (insert date) to ______ (insert another date) and the cost is _______ (insert cost) then I would be more inclined to respond.

These ideas are great to banter around, and I am happy to say I am interested and woud even help out, but without details... who knows...

Its like my work saying that they are THINKING of giving me a payrise.... until they do its all just talk....

I am an ideas man (lol) but would like more coming in and maybe people would say x is a better place and y would be a better date, see most people sit on fence and wait for things to happen, i am putting the motion forward to guage interest, I have put a time frame and a rough location but still no response yes I know people will turn up, but will say it clashes with this and its too far, well now the chance to speak and voice your thoughts,

I wanna mini where u based and what you willing to help with

As Jan Said, The MCC of NSW will run an ad in the magazine and on there website, once we have detais etc etc. You need to approach them direct, ie contact the presidnet and tell her that you plan to do it. She will take it to committee and then as i said it'll go into the publications. If you would like assistance from the club organising it, thats fine too, but you need to contact the committee so that they know of the request. My position within the club isn't one of direct committee contact, so you will need to do it direct.

The problem with Mini owners at the moment in NSW and various aother states, some more than others is apathy. No one could be bothered.

Your comment
"Arron if NSW is looking for ideas with all them members there is issues Im sorry mate, if you guys dont sort it out you will be left behind, VIC and QLD are leading the way and host some of the most talked about shows in AUS even get international attention
"
NSW on there disscussion forum recently had some heated debate over how we can improve the club. This doesn't mean that everyone is doing a bad job, it is how we can improve it and get more people to come to events. Thats the disccussion in a nutshell. I don't believe that any club around australia has a perfect calender and most people will agree you need to keep in fresh. Disscussions at the last Qld meeting were quite heated as to how to encourage more members and how to keep theer members, as the having the same issues, that we are having. People joining and then not coming along and then leaving. I am saying this so that maybe you will understand that we are trying to help, not distroy a club. You can only get people to come along if they want to come along, you can't force them.

Your idea has merit and i would love to see it get off the ground, but without more details... i don't know, it's again come down to apathy.

Cheers

Aaron

I'll be driving my mini about 1800k's next month going to coffs harbour to a mate's wedding (guess what his wedding cars are(and one ain't mine))
I need lots and lots of photo's of mini's, so feel free to send em to [email protected] and 'll send you some pics of NAV and some others i have if ya want

G'Day Minimonaro, I must agree with Mutant. Its not so much sitting on the fence or lack of interest. If you have ever tried to arrange any sort of event you will know that it is a difficult and thankless task. Expect people to promise you the world and deliver zip. Its often just human nature or different priorities.

Good luck with the idea.

I think you should open travelmate and find a spot central for VIC, NSW, QLD where most of the population resides. I know!! ....HAY!! (only joking). Keep in mind that not everyone is made of money, have a eliable enough car to undertake a long trip or have the slightest bit od interest in roughing it....plenty of others are the opposite!!

Canberra might be good for a destination!! (see...I'm biased)

Cheers, and have few brown ales for me, Mick :)

AARon thanks for the offer and suggestions with the NSW club, without burning any fingers and causing a fire, I wouldnt wont to ask the club for support I would rather see this event be a group of Mini fans not politics

What you guys think of the idea of the Caravan Park idea, thinking of a location and ammenties that a park could offer and wonder if this would beat the insurance problems (mutant??) i know trying to find a park that whould be happy to have so many Mini's swamp them

Its security too making sure we get no wallys that wanna play loaud music late into night and cause a drunken rampage so we all get kicked out, but surely this will not be a issue

I see!! so you don't want anyone to have a good time!!

As the heading suggests, the MGCC's all around Australia are meeting in Maitland in 2005 and accommodation in the area might be a bit scarce when they all descend on the place. These sort of events can be organised, but, it usually takes months and months of work to make it a success.

Caravan Park?? most of em usually have lots and lots of rules all aimed at ensuring the people on holidays can enjoy their stay. However, find the right one and you could be on to a good thing.
