Hey all,

I'm trying to convert a dizzy but i'm unable to remove the drive dog from the lucas dizzy.
I've tried using a 3/16" pin punch and also a 4.0mm pin punch and are unable to get the damn pin out.
I've soked the drive dog in Wurth Rust off plus (its like WD40 but it doesnt lubricate, just penetrates and its supposed to free things up a bit when they are rusty or just plain stuck) still cant get the drive dog off.

Any ideas?

Often, the edge of the Lucas drive dog has been staked in to retain the pin.
Hit it with a grinder to remove this both sides, pin will then punch out. Pin is a tight fit anyway, doesn't need to be staked in.

the pin is about 2mm in on each side, i would have to grind the side of the drive dog off to get to the pin, any other ideas?

Just grind that part flat each side, it's no problem. I've done it heaps of times.:)

I'd do what doc says and grind down each side a bit.. I lost my pin when doing the conversion, just borrowd one of my dad's old 3/16" drill bits and cut that to size :D I don't think he's noticed yet..

The pins are hardened dowels I think, good luck trying to drill one..
They are not just a roll (spring) pin like a Clubby gearbox shift rod has.

So....I got the pin out :D
BUT....the pin punch is now offically stuck! :x

I've tried driving it back out with another pin punch.
I've tried holding the pin punch in the vice and pulling the dizzy off the punch.
Nothing is working! HELP!

Sit it on top of vice with the punch sticking up. Then use the next size punch down to drive the old one out.
I hope you used a 3/16" punch, and not forced a 5.0mm one in there...
