G'day all,
Just after a little advise, i'm putting a 1.5"su on a 998 (12g295 head and extractors if this makes any diff)
The question i have is, what air filter setup would be best?
i have two shells, an 850 with a round hole behind speedo and a Deluxe with the hole covered, the 850 is the shell being used, which would mean i have enough room for a big setup but i am a little worried about noise and i guess if it was to backfire??
so i really have a couple questions:

1) Is ok to leave hole there? ifso whats best setup if room not a prob?
2) If its best to cover hole, whats best setup for limited room?

any help on this will be very appreciated

If you leave the hole open, I'd use an HS4 ramstack and a Unifilter sock. But it will be noisy..

If you close it off, a K&N cone filter or a Lynx Ramflo. Either of these should have a stubstack inside with a radius entry to the carb.
K&N still make them, I think.

Midel's website-

It's more useless than their old one was, IMO...

i have sent a email to Midel requesting pricing on a HS4 ramstack and a Unifilter sock (also a needle and spring to suit)

When I was playing with an HS4 carb, I had a ram tube and sock. It wasn't particularly noisy, and I have a hole in my firewall (If you want noise, try a Weber/Dell'orto, ramflo air filter, with a hole in the firewall and no dashboard installed. That sounded awesome!!). Better than a ramflo or K&N tapered job in my opinion, as it is cheaper and probably flows better.

That's a pretty good price for a tube, but i payed less for a Redline sock.
