Be careful if you fit a starter from another type of car. Check and make sure the gear on the starter is the right one. You may find that the replacement one has ten teeth, but the Mini one only has nine teeth. The ten teeth one will work fine for sometime, but as the pitch of the gears is different, you will eventually chew out the teeth on the ring gear. Can someone with more knowledge than me let us know if I am right or wrong.

Hmmm... there were standard Lucas Mini starters with 9 teeth, and also some with 10.... :lol:
Same ring gear...
The geMini one meshes very well. :wink:
