Tried to fit my motor back in today but im having a problem with the holes in the mounts lining up to the holes in the Subframe.
When one side lines up the other is 1/2 in out and vice versa I have also tried to lower the motor with both sides going down evenly and still left with either side not lining up.
Is there a special trick or technique to this?
Any help would be great.

Cheers Gilly

Okay - its never easy and it never seems to quite line up. The best way is to have the front of the car up on jack stands (very safely mind you) and then slip a bolt and nut on one of the holes on one of the engine mounts - making sure its now attached to the subframe. Dont do up the nut and bolt though - just so its loose but wont come out.

Then using the engine hoist / block and tackle lift the engine just millimetres and juggle it so the engine is sitting square and just try to raise and lower until it settles properly. Often you have to lever the offending engine mount into position using screw drivers through the sub frame and engine holes. Its a fiddly job but there is no secret way - just productive french language.

A second person makes the job just so much easier

A warning though - if you have captive nut engine mounts, be careful with the screw driver because you will damage the threads and then putting the bolts in becomes a fultile exercise.

Gentley Bentley :!: waggling screwdrivers around in the holes can damage the threads as can BFH work....you should be getting under and sighting the holes whilst an assistant jiggles the engine around

The holes were unthreaded so no damage occured and the BFH was used to tap the edge of the mount for one hole to line up the other 3 lined up with just a jiggle except for the one time consuming ^*#k. :)
