Dont have radio so not problem, but i might just leave the wire hooked up.

What i dont understand is where in the dizzy/igniter/coil circuit the +12v and - from the battery connect.

Do they simply just plug onto the + and - terminals of the coil?? alng with the wires that run to the igniter

This is where it gets hard to help from 1000kms away. I think you just need to supply +12v feed from a source which is only on when the ignition is on, to the + of the coil - not direct from the battery!

From memory there were two wires from the coil to the ignitor (+ and -ve). The positive on the coil had one of those piggy back connectors so you could also attach the 12v feed from the appropriate source. The two wires from the ignitor to the dizzy (which you say you have done). There is also a wire from the ignitor to earth of course. That was it. In the email I sent there was a photo which showed the components spread out on the floor. The only thing missing (apart from the coil itself) was the +12v ignition feed to the coil.

Really would be good to get a friend to check it out before you put power to it though.

Now just waiting for the spacer to clamp onto, hopefully timing it wont be too difficult (though i have never done this).

Thanks alot for all the advice

im sure this thread will continue on as i find more problems with the timing. And then when i get digi cam i will take some photos.

Does the honda vacuum advance unit have to be hooked up to anything??

at idle, the car keeps revving up, then coming back down, then revving up, coming back down etc.

I wondered if this was directly related to vacuum advance

Most people don't connect it up. I mechanically disabled it, and removed it.

The symptom you describe may also be carb, or vacuum leak. Check the gasket and how tight the nuts are round the inlet manifold. If you have any of that aerostart (start ya Bastard type stuff) spray it around the manifold where it bolts on whilst the engine is idling and see if that affects the revs.

You also sounded a bit iffy about the carb - sure that is sorted?

hey disabled, looking at your initial pic, you already have the honda base plate( mounting bracket) all you need to do is take the dizzy out, and file the honda slot out a bit. then put a single bolt through one of the mini clamp mounting bolts and away u go. it looks like you wont need that spacer if you just use the honda bracket either ;)
