Hi Guys,
I've decided to get rid of my generator and fit an alternator, since it actually doesn't look that hard to do now I've read the instructions
Some questions as usual.
Should I remove the regulator box completely or not? The instructions I'm reading say to remove the whole lot: disconnect the E wire. Okay thats fine. They say remove F and D and connect them together. Then it says remove the remaining wires, AL, A and D and connect them all together. Hang on, haven't I just removed D and connected it to F? Does this mean I can just connect AL, A, F and D all together and just disconnect E?
And if I chose to leave the regulator box in (for simplicity sake) can I leave all the wires attached to the box (except E which 'isnt used'), and just jumper the wires together? I would assume though that then the is power running through the box.
Any tips appreciated.
Oh and BTW, for those of you (ie Kev) that heard my Mini at the show n shine. I said it was a burnt out exhaust valve. Well it *was* when the engine was put in in April - upon the removal of the head the problem was caused by a significant lack of exhaust valve (ie large hole!) on cylinder 3. That explains the god awful noise it made
Anto.
<edit> I think I've answered one of my own questions - I take it there are more than one wire on the D terminal, one of them gets connected to F, then other one(s) get connected to A and Al. Does that sound right?
