Man 998 That looks wicked, excellent job. Looking forward to seeing it running. I want to do an FMIC so maybe that something to think about?

Cheers

yeah i recon maybe a 75mm core cooler would be better, mines 90 and if it was 75 it prolly wouldnt look to fat at the front, but yeah, i wasnt to keen on putting a cooler in the engine bay, with engine bay temps hot enough as it is without the turbo :S just seems logical to put it at the front :?

heeeeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeee 8)

Was it heat or space that made you decide to bolt the IC to the front. While heat is a consideration (mainly with top mount IC's) a well located FMIC with good airflow shouldn't be adversely affected by engine bay temps...

it was mainly room... really the only place i have to put one is top mount, or next to the rad behind the grill.. but i just really couldnt be bothered trying to work on the car with the intercooler in the engine bay, theres crap all room as there is..

but yeah, it looks ok at the front i guess, somthing different.. later on the track when i up the boost the cooler will be big enough, wouldnt want a little sidemount jammed in the bay somwhere :)

What is the actual core size of that intercooler? I wouldmt have thought a 1.3 would need one soo big?? Also are you running an oil cooler?

hey peep's, another sorta update on things, car has been going pretty smoothly so far, blows a bit of smoke, think its leaking from the turbo, (got it for nothing of my brother) was expecting much, only when its cold anyway it puffs out a bit..

boost wise... ran it in for about 1000km's on 4psi, thought it was fun to drive with that little extra punch, this afternoon after work... blew the cobwebs off the boost controller and wound it out to 8-9 psi, advanced the timing a little, fuel pressure still 40.. can not get up it in 1st, just spins its head off, 2nd, driving slowly, ease on accel and when the turbo begins to spool a bit more throttle and starts spinning, and 3rd just slightly spins when comes on boost... a heap of tourque steer, and a whole lot of wheel spin, going to be fun to drive it with 15ish psi...

moral of this is my hat is off to bara, id love to see how its going to get traction lol!

anyone else having problems? 8)

Sounds like Fun 8)

Was reading about Angus Button's 1975 Honda Civic Deluxe
The thing puts out 420Nm of torque at the wheels
so he has an electronic boost controller:
first: 7psi
second: 12psi
third/fourth fifth: 24psi

Cut his time for the quarter from 13.0 to 12.6 seconds.

yeh lots of hp and boost is fun, but you will have to learn the art of throttle control to make use of it.

I find that in 1st mine is fine with full throttle, a quick shift to 2nd and i have to feather the throttle to keep traction but get it in the 3rd then its flat out and try and hold it in a straight line, on a flat rd it will go straight, but on an uneven rd it will move around abit.

Just make sure you have alot of braking distance as 180kph comes up fast :D 8)
