They are also an invaluable source for wiper motors, heater taps, inner door handles, etc., etc., etc......for Leyland Clubman. The main point being that NOBODY ever strips these suckers down at Pinch-A-Part!

Gordo,

The kit is a dud because it would leave no room for the wiring loom. I was gonna file the 'new' lever back to provide more than the bugger all 0.5mm clearance it was going to have, but then there was still no room for the wiring.

On a trial fit, yeh it worked. I'd recommend getting a Much stronger return spring though, cos the cable provides a lot more drag. On my trial fit (cable not installed in car interior, just in engine bay) The catch would only move back around half way

I prefer my bonnets to stay down when driving so...

Sorry I still dont understand... :?
In the kit you get a new bonnet latch and the cabling and the bonnet pull lever for the interior. What wiring gets in the way?

The wiring that runs across onat the top of the grill. It's tucked in the back of the 'bonnet close panel'.

So the new bonnet latch has a lever mechanism, this mechanism sticks too far out (hence the 0.5mm clearance i keep repeating)

This allows no room for the wiring to be tucked away. I could have left it all dangling out in the open (behind the grill) but I am a bit of a fussy bastard.

So it was a dud for clearance reasons, at the bonnet latch release lever. This is where the cable attaches to.

It is also a dud, cos the return spring would need replacing with a heavier duty item, hmmm... I do have a spare new clutch return spring sitting there....

Hiope this helps.
