there's no in between..

Actually, there is no "No, I don't want a Tartlet motor, thanks all the same".

I like the A series for the same reason I like Minis: Unsophisticated, period motors that are simple and unaffected by electrical spikes from nuclear explosions 8)

If I were to put a different motor in, it would be a bike motor. My CBR600 puts out around 90bhp @ 12,000 but I have yet to visualise how to match up the output from a motorcycle engine to the Mini's diff without resorting to RWD.

Yep, the Lucas electrical system is capable of providing its own electrical spikes & knocking itself out

Belt drive to the mini gearbox input shaft, like that electric Mini pickup.
Or like a Hog

I'm probably about halfway there, i've go the subframe built and the engine in. Since i'm trying to get it done in a roundnose, it might be awhile before i sort everything out, ie. radiator, turbo, oil filter. Seems to be no end in sight for the moment... :?

Ok you deffinately have to get some photos. Mind if I PM you?

My engineer has looked at it and is doing a report for Transport SA so they can issue a list of requirements then just handling and braking tests to do.

92,

Keep us posted, I would like to compare the amount of hoops you have to jump through in SA with the amount here in QLD

From talking to Con T a long time ago I have the impression that QLD and the ACT a very similar and at the high end as far as major car conversion works are concerned. And 92 I have to do the same thing (driving and braking tests) for my engineer so yeah tell us how it goes.
