Anyone remember the 1970's Leyland Australia mini TV advert set in a circus environment?
Had a catchy jingle song. "Mini-mini-mini" and had mini's jumping ramps thru hoops.
Been looking unsuccessfully for it on Youtube for ages.
Maybe the advert was destroyed and lost forever?

Sounds like a terrific advert...I heard the Australian version of the "Mini Mini Moke" on the radio a while back but couldn't find out who did it :| (sounds like the froggy song)

I remember that fun circus ad with a fond smile on my face. Like you I’ve searched YouTube and never found it. I hope it surfaces one day, would be good to see it again.

I think it was 1977 or 78 that it was on TV. We’d just moved into a new house in 77 and mini production ceased in 78, hence my suggested time line.

There was another fun ad at that time “Suzuki four wheel jive” very disco era. Sorry getting off mini topic.

Si...

Maybe you could ask the national film and sound archive in Canberra, I really don't know if they do that sort of requests but they can only say no.

You can search their collection.

That's how I found this NSW Police Cooper S footage.

Has anyone found the ad at all?

I had a non mini relative visit and he was singing this song. Part of why he remembers it is that his first car was almost going to be a mini but a Datsun won because of the ground clearance required.

I've looked a few times but to no avail.

All I can remember of the jingle was something like; 'Mini, mini, mini, mini' repeat x2, followed by ' I love my mini, I love my car, I drive it everywhere......'. I think there was a voice over sales pitch between segments of the jingle. I would have been 1977 or 78.

Having specific years helps narrow down the search. Now I can search for 77 or 78 specifically.

I have come across the Australian Television Archive. I guess they could probably help but it would cost $330 just for them to search for the footage.

Best I can do, no date, but advert for Deluxe so must be 1965 I'd say. Probably not the one you're thinking of if it is mid 70s. Regards, Tony

Does Tony Cripps know, or remember, the advertising agency who handled the TV/theatre advertising for the P76 release? Maybe they were involved in promoting other Leyland products in the same period - as another avenue to find this particular advertisement.

It's a good idea Bill. In the 60s, the advertising agency responsible was Arthur Smythe & Sons, 355 Kent St Sydney. For P76 I can't find any information yet, but will keep looking. Regards Tony

You were very close.......
'Mini, mini, mini, mini' repeat x2, followed by ' I love my mini, I love my car, I drive it everywhere, We have more fun than anyone, driving here and there". then repeat over.
"I actually sing this to my granddaughter to brain wash her into loving Mini's" :)
