Do the factory fitted radiators have any id tag on them? If they did what were the letters and numbers please.

Early tags were on top and later were on the side near the filler neck

L66 = Dec 1966

This is the radiator in my late 1970 MK II S with the Newcell plate on the side of the header tank. The part number is AYA2077. I'm very confident your 1971 S would be the same.

The last of the round-nose parts books shows different parts for different models of Mini. The Cooper S is listed as AYA2077.

Someone, I think on this forum, had the brass plate remade as theirs was lost (pic below). Maybe do a search or perhaps the member sees this and will comment.

Hey Doug, I have heard the Cooper S had more fins per inch than normal ones. But I don't ever remember seeing any difference between radiators (apart from the tanks themselves)'

What do you know about what makes them difference to what was fitted to the mini K for example.
