I only seem to be able to find 1 place in Aus that has the Hydro bleed value (13H1705) @ $28 +$15 postage which is a bit over the top. Does anyone know of any cheaper alternatives ?

Yes, thats what google shows, but on site in cart it is $28, plus shipping total is $43 - just thought it was a bit much for what it is.

Thanks Simon that would be awesome (should have posted in wanted i guess, but had only really considered new). I suspect my drivers side is on the way out, as i lost pressure in it a while ago but couldn't trace the issue. I took the cap off recently and it was full of fluid, so wanted to replace it while i had depressurized to do top arms.

Can the core be replaced, either with a tyre core or better? If it's leaking it will no doubt be failure of the spring or the rubber seal part of the core, I would assume.

Ah, for some reason I thought the valves were some special high pressure version - I was over thinking things again. If you can just replace the core then I will give that a crack first, my son should have some gear he uses with his mountain bikes

My local tyre shop gave me a couple for free. And they're working.
Only the body of the valve unit is in stainless.

Well the old school long ones came out and standard wheel ones have gone in. The spring tension on the old ones seemed less than the new ones. Haven’t pumped the system yet.

The only difference i could find on schrader valves was diameter, there didn’t seem to be a pressure rating.

As I understand it, the spring in the valve core is only helping to return the needle to its seat - similar to a needle and seat of a fuel float bowl. Once the needle closes against its seat, the higher the pressure in the fluid (air or hydro fluid) the tighter the seal of the needle against its seat.

I've used both the long original and the short Schrader tyre valves, both work fine.
