For an early mini central Speedo. I ordered new globes to replace some I my old dash globes. I noticed the old ones are marked 3w and are brighter than the 2.2w replacements.

Then I couldn’t find any reference in the handbook or the Worksop manual to correct wattage. What we’re originally used? What is correct?

Is there any issue using 3w bulbs?

they'll be brighter, and draw a little more current and generate a little more heat.

I tried LEDs in mine, found they didn't output enough light sideways to illuminate the gauges properly. So I put new 2.2s in instead.

The 3w are just very slightly brighter so worth a try for the instruments. When I reconnected and tested the speedo I noticed the ign light seemed dim and thought something was wrong, then realized I was used to it having a 3w in there.

I did find an old post here where it was recommended not to go any higher than 3w

Would be interesting to see if i can feel a difference in the heat generated.
