In your opinion is 37 grams a lot to be out of balance for the flywheel?.

If you believe MED, with their lightweight flywheels, anything over 1.0 gram is over their tolerance.

Yeah thanks, me too. Doesn't help your quest though. Maybe you should double check you fw as well?

Just a quick update.

New balanced flywheel has pretty much eliminated the vibration.
There is still a slight vibration at 2k which seems like a resonate frequency rev level. Possibly the natural vibration that these engines have that most people have mentioned. Very tolerable though compared to before.
New problem though, wheel nuts on new 13 x 7 JBW superlite wheels keep working loose. The back LH wheel fell off and rolled up the road and into my next door neighbour's driveway. (at 40k's).
All of the wheel nuts were located at the place of wheel departure. Smashed the Miglia arch so back to bodywork.. Big flat on drum backing plate. Checked the other wheels and were also loose. (They were all torqued up to 40 foot pound only about 5km's ago?). Will try torquing them up more and adding arrows to the nuts or nut indicators. Maybe they need to bed into the taper some more.

Wow that’s great news! I’ll have to investigate further for mine.

Yeah, more research for you unfortunately.
Look at it this way, at least your wheels are staying on. This crap is stressing me out, always something to deal with.

I just have to ask. Did you fit new studs and were they pulled up all the way into the hubs?

Yep. Brand new 17mm nuts on brand new long studs through new spacer drums. (for the back).
Fully home on the hubs

Neither. They are a tapered nut and the wheel doesn't have inserts. (Tapered aluminium seat)

With a wheel off, check that the nuts are firm (correct threadform) when threaded onto the stud.

Check how much of the stud is being engaged by the wheel nut when the wheel is on.

Thanks
Ok, will do when i get home.
The studs are new and the nuts tighten up nicely with no slop/play and I have added a little grease to the stud (but not the taper).

The front wheel nuts seem to be fairing better. They are staying tight but the backs are the problem. Looking at the taper/seat in the wheels, the fronts have been off and on more times and the paint has worn off more in there. Leeds me to think that more torque on the backs will bed the nuts in harder and break through the paint like the fronts have. When doing up the nuts the final tightening makes a dry grabbing noise (from the nut in the taper). It is not smooth like the fronts.
Will try 5 5foot pound and monitor once back on the road.

cheers
