If you are interested in knowing all about the technical aspects of the AWA 25M radio, including installation instructions, this document will help.

Nothing there that jumps out of the page...a part number for an antenna cable, but that's just a generic item.

Each and every installation would be different with different aerial cable lengths.

I'm sure the hard wired microphone would have been changed at some time...the mics take a beating as do the cables...

I suggest that for under seat installation you look at evidence of a bracket near or on the handbrake lever...

PS I wonder if Tricky Dickie Smith was involved with fitting radio's to Nth Sydney HWP back in the day :D

I'm assured by many knowledgeable people that most if not all police vehicles were fitted out at the Government Motor Garage in Glebe. I've also seen the NSW Police Annual Reports for that era listing the type of work done and equipment fitted, which included the radio.

Don't have the holes in the back seat nor the driver's side bin. Just a large hole drilled in the centre seat bracket. I have mounted the fire extinguisher here out of the way. Had read somewhere that the extinguisher was sometimes mounted in the back. The AWA radio is under the parcel shelf. Had to drill new holes as a previous owner had cut a large hole in the shelf to accommodate an AM radio (now removed), so the previous holes had been lost. I found the radio mounting under the parcel shelf was very noisy (vibration, rattles etc.) so ended up placing some foam between the shelf and metal mounting plate and between the radio and the mounting plate.

Alternatively, the coiled MIC cable could just go straight to a dash clip on the passengers side...although not ideal (IMHO)...
