Below is part of the engineering drawing for the exhaust pipe (AYA2021) showing the attachment of the support bracket (section J-J), which comprises two pieces that wrap around the pipe and are welded to it as Doc described above. I can also post separate drawings for the two parts of the bracket (called support stay and stiffener) but assume you will use a clamped bracket instead. If not just ask.

Also below a section of the drawing that specifies the bracket must bend before the weld fails, also as Doc described.

Thanks Winabbey, i have one of these as well that i could attach to the side of the gearbox.

Using this, I could actually put a a couple of brackets from the exhaust pipe to the gearbox, one to the above fitting and another welded (or bolted) on to the pipe and attached to the end of the gearstick housing.
