I need some advice on some intact hydro pipes I have for my deluxe. What was the original finish on the pipes? Were the pipes painted and if so what colour.

Also do all of the models that ran hydro have interchangeable pipes?

Pipes were not painted.
There are 2 pipe types, 1965-67, and 1967-73?
The latter run through channels pressed in the floor. Early type are clipped under floor.

Or fine steel wool (without added soap).

Thanks for that. I've been reading the info about the hydrolasticity and cleaning the bags out and storing them before I use them. How did you clean your hydro bags?

I flushed them about 6 times with the hose and an air hose and stuff was still coming out. Eventually it got better and then I filled them with radiator fluid and stuck a rubber cork from Clarke Rubber in the top and then repainted them. Having read this and the other newer threads I might do it again before they go back in the car. Here is the link to previous post and it shows the gunk that came out of my hydro bags.

My gunk was the same colour and consistency but I didn't think to rinse mine. I only drained them. I will remove mine and do the same and rinse then add the coolant. The other thing I did with mine was apply phosphoric acid on the inside of the bag edge where the pipe exits to stop the rust then sprayed that.

I have just made new hydro pipes same material and size as original, Bundy tube, otherwise it is hard to clean the old pipes.

Did you use the original fittings on the new tube?
