Has anybody here tried fitting a rev limiter to their car? I'd be interested in fitting one to mine, I've had sticking throttles in the past and I don't want to damage my engine if it happens again.

I googled and found that Pertronix do one, but its a bit pricey - I would have though this would be the sort of item you'd find at SuperCheap?

isnt it that the valve bouncing stops the engine from reaching terminal velocity

piston thru block leaving big dent/hole in bonnet = rev limit reached

Obviously they didn't all get that, most 1500 Kombis had a vacuum governor..
I once worked on one which had it missing- and the owner had had the gearshift apart & f***ed it up and only had 1st & 2nd gear... he tried to drive it 30 miles to our workshop to fix, the motor over-revved, seized a piston & welded #3 rod to the crank. Nasty....!
But we fixed it.

You forgot to say "easy peasy"

Just throwing another idea out there, you could control your ignition with a Megasquirt. You could rev limit with spark cut and have a fully programmable ignition map to boot. Though i'd say it would probably be the most difficult and time consuming way of doing it. Funnily enough I always seem to do things the most difficult and time consuming way
